I have met you before my name is Scott. We were surfing rightovers with JC a couple of times. I had a board with orange rails and now a JC board. I bet is was good in front of your house today. I live right in front of Rogers by Sylva Channel and paddled out front was really good also. To big tomorrow but maybe next week. You ever paddle anywhere else besides your house.

808 - I've surfed Waialua/Mokeleia side a handful of times.  ...mostly I just go out by my house though.  I got two sessions in this am before it got too big  :o

bts-- cracked the board from rail to rail surfing at kamasugi's on a head high day--nothing heavy. The Hobie Raw is light and fast and not that strong. JC is doing the repair so at least I'll know where it's not going to break ;)

I saw that board at his shop looks like a nice board. Did you see my 9 10 that he shaped for me.  That thing rocks in bigger surf.

808-- Yes!! It was the first thing I saw when I brought my board in, that thing is awsome! I recall a couple sessions out front-Punalu'u- where that board would shine. Love the Kona's. Hope to see you riding it soon. T

Boyum told me years ago that Paia was like the star wars bar. That notion has stuck with me ever since. there's a lot of wookies, and a fair number of princess Lea slave girls, but the most common denizen is indeterminate alien. You can't tell what they are, but you know they're not of this earth. The could film a "Men In Black" in Paia without spending a nickel on wardrobe or special effects.

Star wars bar, Ha!.

Back in Vietnam war days Paia, or at least Baldwin beach park, was a major hippie colony.  That's how I remember it.  That, and major babes at Jacques.

I'm probably indeterminate alien. Although with my jew-fro I could be a wookie.

The hippies are not my favorite part of Paia... can't lie.

Ah, Jacque's. I wish he was still in business. This town was a better place with Jacque's.

+1 The windward side was going off, rode an outside break that is only rideable a couple times a year. The swell angle and no wind yesterday afternoon made for some amazing surf :D

Aloha,
I currently live in Cape Cod due to military service but moving/transferring back to Oahu next summer.  I'll be looking to hook up with paddlers for downwinders, touring and racing.  I will also be looking to upgrade my equipment so any suggestions would be appreciated. I currently have a 14' C4 Vortice (board works) but looking for something a little more stable to handle the trade wind bumps/chop.

My surfshop is in Haiku, Maui, about 10 minutes from Peahi. I live in Pukalani, where I can see Kanaha and Maalaea from my living room. Sometimes it's a hard choice which way to turn at the bottom of the hill.....
