It reminded me of my parents, they had a condo on Maui for about 25 years, I'd fly over every now and then to hang with them for awhile, but I was always a politically incorrect haole from day one, still am, and proud of it.

I brought my parents a gift one time for their front door, it was a sign.
"The Residence of Mr. & Mrs. Haole", they didn't appreciate it much, but I loved it.  They took it down after I left.
I also had to tell them to quit sending me those "Mele Kalikimaka" christmas cards, they were and still are, so 60's, as well as somewhat pretentious.
