I've tried and used heaps and the H2O Audio case is the only one that I trust now with my iPhone.

Just ruined my phone with the Lifeproof. Worked fine for 4 months, dunked a couple of times and water came in. It was never taken out of the case. I think the seals fail when you charge it. Not happy!

I just killed (another) iPhone with the life proof case.

I usually double it... in the Life Proof... then in the H20 Audio... I got lazy and just used the Life Proof and got hosed.

I also lost a phone last year because it was just in the H20 case...

No trouble with double bagging yet.

Over a hundred views...surprised to see no one is using or has tried the Escape Capsule from Catalyst.

After just three posts...think I am staying away from the LIFEPROOF cases.

I like how the Catalyst allows you to see the O-ring to be sure you are getting a good seal.

Looking for real world use...not just video's on their site and YouTube.

Anyone?

I've been using the Lifeproof since May. I use it alone (no double bagging) and it has been wet several time without issue. However, for no good reason, I am just getting nervous about it- especially the charging door. It wouldn't take much to accidentally open that sucker up and flood the case.

One I've got is Aquapac, got it from them online and worked out to be a good price... I think it was sth like 5 gbp shipping worldwide. Packaged with waterproof headphones so no worries if go in. Been quite happy with it.

The charging port door is the weak link on the Lifeproof, and if the seal on that door gets  any sand/dirt on it, water can get in there.  I haven't had any problems yet, but if I know I'm going in the water (like surfing or pool) I put a piece of tape over the door as insurance.  Been using it since spring. No problems yet, but have heard others having leaks...

The Catalyst case looks very nice... Not sure it was around in May, don't remember seeing it in my searches.

Yeah, I have read many reviews stating that the charging port has opened and ruined many IPhones in the LIFEPROOF case.

I do not think the Catalyst Escape Capsules were out until later in the summer.

From what I can find on the Internet there are only a few complaints about the Catalyst...Not being able to charge it with the case on, the flash doesn't work correctly when in the case and needs to have some rubber on the outside(too slick when wet)  No complaints of water damage anywhere.

On the FaceBook site it seems that they are addressing a few of these issues for the new case(s) that will be released.

I think I will be leaning towards the Catalyst...hope they continue to make the Glow in the Dark case...I think it's sweet.

Okay - I hope they address this issue.  BUT...I would rather have to flip open the case and charge it then worry about my IPhone getting damaged!!!! I am not that lazy that it can't be pulled off to charge!!!  Mind at peace, a lot to be said for that!!!!  So keep using your LIFEPROOOF case with tape and I'll just flick it open to charge and look at the seal when I close mine after charging and have no worries while yours may open and need to be replaced.

Come on...Think about it...what's more important the phone or being able to charge it!!!

Wonder how well the touch screen & volume is with the catalyst?

And Im also wondering...who will have their product out sooner...lifeproof or the damn gopro wifi app we've been waiting for for months. My guess is thelifeproof case for the iphone 5.

I wasn't dissing the Catalyst... In fact I eagerly hope it is awesome so I can get one.  But if you are cracking open a case to charge it once a day, I just have to wonder about the integrity of the o-ring after 200+ charges. Same thing as opening the port on the Lifeproof that many times. Maybe thats a non-issue.  We won't know until they've been on the market say longer than 3 months. Other than that, it looks very well constructed.  Like I said, let us know how it works when you've had real life experience with it.

On a side note, my iPhone/Lifeproof case went into a house fire in my bunker coat pocket 3 weeks ago.  Temperatures were 1000 degrees + at the ceiling, enough to melt my helmet and give me steam burns... Phone still works great, which is probably more a testament to the phone than the case (-:

Greatdane - I hear you on the opening and closing of the case. Pretty sure if it gets damaged they warranty it.  My hope is that this is one of the issues they address with the new case. I tried emailing them and posting on FaceBook my questions but they are not releasing any details of the new case.  Good to hear you and your phone made it out safe!!!

We'll just have to wait....bummer.
