Pono's new sled
« on: September 02, 2012, 08:00:12 PM »
OK....I was going to wait and let Bill post these but I know he's out doing something silly like racing cars or something and won't get to it.....and they are already on FB.
Pono's new Speedboard in Gulf Racing colors....some very nice touches in the paint were added by the speedboard crew...logo in the circle where a number would usually be and the driver's name on the chassis.
Here are the pics snagged from FB.

Board and the inspiration

and more of the board.

Bob

8-4 Vec, 9-0 SouthCounty, 9-8 Starboard, 10-4 Foote Triton, 10-6 C4, 12-6 Starboard, 14-0 Vec (babysitting the 18-0 Speedboard) Ke Nalu Molokai, Ke Nalu Maliko, Ke Nalu Wiki Ke Nalu Konihi

With a bit of paint and skill, a guy could change that "Bill" to a "Bob" pretty easily.

What a beautiful board.

LOL....I think she is too much of a thoroughbred for the likes of me. My crappy balance wouldn't do her justice. I had her older sibling (prototype) out in flat glass. It was the fastest I've ever gone on a board without riding a wave but it was also all I could do to hold on and stay upright. Add in any chop and I'd be swimming most of the time. It would require a whole new level from me and I'm not sure it's in there, if anything my balance is getting worse. It's going to be fun watching Bill race her though.

Beautiful!

If that thing is coming out to Oregon, please let us know in advance. It's not only going to be fast, it's gonna be a lot of fun to see Bill balance it. ;)

I'm concerned that it won't be fair.

I just got off the phone with Creek and had to rush over to a dinner party. I get there and a friend who doesn't paddle bopard yet said, hey, come over to my computer and check this out. Yep, it was a picture the the board and racing car. I started laughing and said I betcha that's Pono's new board. I was right.

Why would watching Bill swim not be fair?

Very carefully  ;D.
In theory, there should be no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is...
