$70 leash!!
« on: May 23, 2012, 08:18:01 AM »
I'm so over breaking leashes!
They can but a man on the moon..but can't keep my board of the ROCKS!
I even got one from a grande board company that sells $2000 carbon wave boards, looked strong enough but when i took it out on a guttless day...it frigen broke..wtf

This looks good    http://www.psups.com.au/super-sup-surf-leashes/        a little steep but the same price as trip to the ding guy.
I've been tying some of my busted leases with good luck, just dont like how the anke end hangs down but oh well.At least my boards still there, even if its buckeld.. :o but thats another thread(rant)
And to all the short boarders who saved my shit from impending doom...THX
some good people out there.

Smaller boards help to prevent broken leashes. :)

It's a good point.

I've broken 2 leashes since last August when I began.

One one the velcro just gave up.

One the other, the screw unscrewed.

My OAM leashes seem to be pretty solid. Gotta screw the screw back in a bit every few months though.
Taller than most, shorter than others.

I started using the ocean earth leash after breaking about 5 other brands and so far seems pretty good.

I agree w/ Monkey.  A few weeks ago, my plug ripped out of my deck... leash was still intact... attached to the plug... missing a board.

Those OE leashes are strong.

Just checked into both those leashes, gonna put them to the test.

Boards have been in the 8'-9' range.
I've been joining a snaped leash in the water  with a Fisherman's knot.

My brand new XM Heavy Duty was a piece of cr@p.  The velcro area ripped in half on a waist high wave-on it's second session.
Worse yet, the jerk at Dive n' Surf in Redondo made me jump through hoops to get a replacement. I've supported them for over a decade, with almost a dozen used Body Glove wetsuits in my garage, and they won't honor a defective $20. leash.   Makes me want to quit supporting my 'local' shop and buy my equipment at Sports Chalet.

I hear you newton. I broke my leash at Waimea Bay, well pinballs it was not qute big enough for the bay, board went up into the rocks it was trashed.  Had to climb down get the board climb up the rocks while timing the sets. I now buy the biggest big wave leash I can find.
