QB 100 FG....what length ?
« on: August 17, 2012, 04:06:09 PM »
Ordering a QB 100 FG.

I am 6'1" tall and will be
paddling on flatwater but
also need to use in small surf,
up to 5' max.

Any thoughts on paddle length?

So is QB blacklisted or what? Zero responses.

I have purchased the QB Kanaha 100 FG and
I've gone ahead and will have it made at 82".

And I find absolutely nothing wrong with this company and product,
so I'll give it a go.

We're not allowed to talk about Quickblade in this forum unless we are comparing it unfavorably to a Ke Nalu. Unless you want some SUP thugs to show up at your door with their paddles you better quiet down!

Thx for some truth, SUPlime.

Wow, it just seems like people need to
choose their battles wisely. This is one
that I don't get.

So I will paddle with my new QB paddle and
have a freakin' great time doing that.

And I'll watch out for the paddle police.... ;D

QBs are great paddles.  I am 6 1 and have been going shorter. My paddle is now 82.5... Basically my elbow is slightly crooked and relaxed when holding the paddle overhead.

If QBs weren't great paddles, all of the all stars wouldn't be using them.

I like my Ke Nalus better... But I have had many QB's and to a paddle, they have been solid...

Usually need a day or two to get some good responses from some of the experts on here.  (not me)

Also, usually when you order paddles, the suggested guidelines for paddle length are somewhere there and pretty good to follow.  So, if you followed them, you should be in good shape.

Good luck with your new paddle!

To get the full range of Input you have to wait for everyone to get off the water and check in to see what's going on. Not everyone sits at the campfire with a mobile device so it can take longer during the weekend.  I haven't been had the chance to try their paddle since I got a great deal on a paddle no one talks about. Which is gas always struck me as odd since their boards are really popular.

I like my QB Kanaha FG (granted its my first paddle ever). Length is going to be at your discretion...posters above are taller than me but my paddle length for my arms/board is quite longer. My current paddle is 4" too short for racing, just visited my local shop today to confirm this.

Please do not just take your height in to consideration when sizing your paddle.

Your arm length also has to be factored in.
As example - I am only 5'7.75" (on a good day) - yet I have a paddle more towards the length of someone 6'.  Even Jim Terrell was amazed when he made me a race paddle as to how long I wanted it.  When I got it from him at BOP HI - he asked me to but my arm up . . . his response - "oh must be the Canadian long arm gene".

For my newbie customers I generally suggest that the top of the handle should be about where their wrist watch would sit if their arm is stretched up straight over head.

If in doubt - borrow / rent an adjustable and go paddle a bunch at different lengths.

(search here - there are a ton of "paddle length" threads).

Easy Rider is the name of my store in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
My name is Warren Currie . . . and we SUP Surf indoors . . . in a shopping mall!
