great job Aussies!
Nice going to USA and all the other countries-these are great events-sportsmanship-camaraderie-fierce competition-too bad HI missed out-i would think the HI contingent is gonna be in someones ear real soon here!
Looked like a great event-wonder when we will get one here in the states?

All we know for sure is that it'll be back in Peru for the 2013 event. After that it'll go around the world each year.

From what the ISA President was saying, it sounds as though it's most likely between South America, the Pacific and Europe for 2014. They tend to favour the less-developed surfing nations (their mission is to spread surfing around the world).

Here's where the ISA's big events have been held over the past three years...

Ecuador, New Zealand, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, USA, Peru, Panama, El Salvador, Spain, China, Peru

Sean Poynter is up right now and Colin Mcphillips killed it in the last heat....you may not have sent a complete team but give them some support!

Just started watching Heat 5. Anyone see the paddle Tamil Martino is using? The blade looks completely round.

@Paddle-Plappe   : You have an eye for the important things..
Some really nice surfing despite only average waves,  very inspiring, I was impressed by how some of the guys really ripped the waves apart even when going backside..

Today the long distance race is on the menu..

Yup that's the one. Anyone tried it or know anything? I guess just a variation on the theme. I kind of like it. Thanks for posting it

Im continually impressed with the talent from around the big blue marble-every comp i see tons of new guys from far away countries and they just rip!

Would love to see one of these in the states.

Ha Ha Margarita has made an impression the world over.
It seems there is a huge difference in the standard of SUPing the guys either RIP or are quite average. Our SAFFAS in the surfing are Justin Bing and Chris Bertish and Tamsyn Robarts.
I saw one of Sean Poynters heats and he was ripping.

Is there anyone else having the feeling "I could be amongst these guys / I could do at least as good (or as bad) as 90% of the guys at this event"?

I wish the Portuguese Surfing Federation (SUP governing body for Portugal) would even give a sh&% for SUP.
No nationals, no national team on the ISA and not even any kind of respect for the sport, as some of the guys still see SUS as surfing with a big board and holding on to a paddle.

This is one of the problems of SUP not having it's own federation and the guys seeing SUP as the most likely sport in surfing to become an olympic sport (olympic sport = money from the olympic committee).
