Your choices are to take the hit and sell it then reinvest, look like a kook because you have the permanent wobbles and like to swim OR shed those 10-15 lbs you have been meaning to for the last 5 years.

I'm shooting for 10 by the time I can get out of this full suit.

how do you know if a sup is slightly too small for you? couldn't it just be that you have crappy technique?

I'm using the opposite approach. A custom 8'er is going to be my present to myself if I can get down to 240. Might actually work better your way though....

I'd like to think this is foolproof, but I've done the same thing countless times by buying pants that were a bit to small thinking that it would motivate me to lose the weight.  Probably gotten rid of enough pants to buy 3 custom SUPs over the years.  But whatever works for you...
