Laird Pearson Arrow 11' vs Laird Ron House 10'
« on: January 18, 2012, 11:48:22 AM »
hey all,

looking for some advice/recommendations... I currently own a 10' Laird Ron House board.  It's 27" wide which is the narrowest board I've ridden.  Took a few sessions to feel comfortable but now I love it, can get out through chop with it and can still do a 5-mile leisure paddle if needed.  I bought this board to surf but also wanted something lighter and easier to transport for cruising (i live about 100 yards from the ocean so i carry to the beach to cruise or surf).  I love how this board surfs but ideally I would like something slightly wider and a little bit longer to fit into more of a cross-over board.  I have the opportunity to snag a 11' Laird Arrow for really cheap.  Just wondering thoughts on keeping the board I have versus the Arrow model.  Haven't tried one yet but have seen them in person and I like the thinned out look and the pulled in tail.

Financially, I won't be able to keep both boards if that's what your thinking (wish it were a perfect world).

Thoughts, comments?  Just curious - thanks guys.

I had the 11'0 R. House Laird at 27" wide and I now have the 10'6 Arrow Laird.  The Arrow Laird is more stable and more maneuverable.  It is the better board out of those two, to me.

I have a 10'6 arrow, good board, also rented a the Ron House - very good board, but I would recommend going smaller.  If you want something small and light to carry, then get something around 9'.  I just did a SUP reduction surgery and went to an 8'8 x 32. Great board, stable, light, and fun to surf (shaped by a local surf shop)  I would recommend renting a few, but definitely go with something over 30 wide, worked for me.  Try and find a used one, so you can keep both. :)

You are welcome to use my Arrow if you live near me.  Good luck.
