Had a chance to try out the wrist pod yesterday and it's not even noticeable while paddling or surfing. Kind of like wearing a BIG wrist watch.

This was my first time taking "in the water" shots and my technique really needs work, but I think I would much prefer the wrist pod over
trying to get the camera out of my pocket, shooting and then putting camera back in pocket.
Waves were shoulder high and dumping on the sandbar, and I had my work cut out for me, trying to figure out how to hold the paddle, keep an eye on the looming wave, dodge the oncoming surfer, and get the shot. Just going to need more practice.

The pod works simply, and well. (I am not affiliated with Golden Hour in any way)

A shot of one of yesterdays smaller waves. As I said, I need a lot of practice...  ;D

Looks good.  I am halfway considering 2 of them and they could be the SUP equivalent of "heavyhands"

I took the Sanyo Ca 100 out on Sunday to try get some footage.
It was very easy to use, the burst function is very slow prob about 1 frame a sec.
I filmed from my board and footage was ok.
I uploaded 2 clips to you tube straight from the camera shot at 60 frames a sec not the full HD but 1 lower.
Footage sucks but will try to get a bit better.
This was shot from my board.

This was shot from one of those mini tripods balancing on a fence.

Its menus and operations are very simple and the pistol grip makes finding your target much easier than using the square camera.  I don't think it would work very well as a shore based camera as the zoom is too small. The Mp4 format is awesome no converting for using with my Mac.

On the whole I am very happy with the camera. It seems a great compliment to a Go Pro for mucking about in the waves. Nice shot Beachcomber.

My Pentax W-90 just failed me last week while on a trip to Nosara, CR. It's about a year and a half old but (up to now) has performed admirably. Must have got some moisture in it as it boots up but none of the zoom or menu features work... Guess it's time for a call to Pentax- :(...    Paddle on (with soul),    JD

My Pentax W-90 has just died also.. It's all been fine and hardly used but when my Olympus died last week with a cracked screen I dug out my almost new Pentax only to find the screen saying 'battery depleted' and it will not connect to charge via the usb cable.. Bugger!

As I said before, I really like this little digicam...after owning most all of the others...

Here's a quick vid clip...the original HD at 1920 x 1080 is obviously much better...

The first 3 shots are just frame grabs from vid...the next couple are random water shots...16.2 Mega pixels...

I like it because it's small and easily fits in my boardies...I also wear it with a lanyard around my neck and it easily stashes in my wetsuit shirt...like any of these waterproof P&S digicams, there are idiosyncrasies that you figure out to live with...

I,m back from a 3 week trip to Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) with almost no pics :(
First week my 1.5 year old TX fine didnt survive a good 3m beachbreak...blub blub blub.

Went to town, bought a brandnew Pentax Optio WG1 and that one died suddenly after 3 days. ???

Went back to the shop and they wished me good luck but gave me shit, so now its send to Pentax-int.

I just ordered the Contour GPS for $170 on amazon, but I am not sure I'll keep it. Depends on how the GPS works. Might just get the Contour roam since that is waterproof to 1 meter (lol).
