Rincon, PR
« on: February 05, 2011, 02:28:27 PM »
Planning a trip in early April, 7th - 11th, anyone got any tips or advice on where to stay and where to rent boards?  Will be traveling with my wife and we're both still pretty much in the kook stage.  So, looking for smaller waves to surf and good paddling opportunities.  Thanks in advance.  Bill

We just did a family trip over Christmas.  Stayed at El Conquistador which was pretty nice.  They have a ferry to a private island where I did some suping on my Uli.  I circumnavigated the private island and went to the nude beach on the other side.  I was the only one there.  They have snorkel trips to the same island but I wasn't so impressed with the snorkeling aspect.  My wife tried SUP snorkeling and said it was the way to go (lay on the board and stick your face in the water).  I think the weather was unusual.  We had high surf warnings the first several days and then the last day was like glass.  They also have kitesurfing rentals.  They were supposed to have windsurfing but the equipment hadn't arrived yet.  El Yunque and the bioluminescent bay are cool.  El Conquistador is right next to the bioluminescent bay.  I could've sup'd it except I didn't know where it was.  They have a pretty nice golf course too but I don't really care for golf.

the Isabela /Aguadilla area has a lot to offer. Clerar water beaches, good flat water suping as well as good surf for all levels. A bit less touristy than Rincon w/ less crowd in the beaches.
We also rent/tour /coach flatwater or surf.

ill be there feb 24th -march 30th. surf all over be respectful and stick with sup at only more popular breaks.  crowds can be heavy. but great place with tons of clear water and great weather.

This exact thought went through my head.  Existentialism on the forums!

I think I remember the answer to that one from colledge.

The answer is yes, but only if you're the pope and a tree falls on you.

Coming to Rincon in April? Try to be here the 2nd of April (2011), for the 3rd Annual Rincon Beachboy Paddle Race. It is PR's largest SUP event. You can stay at Parador Villa Antonio, a small, beach front apartments hotel right on the event's beach. I am sure you will have a wonderful time.  :)
