I had a great day at Wrightsville Beach, NC today.

The waves were so much fun.  The water was 44 degrees which I think is a record.  The Gulf Stream has moved 50 miles farther out from the coast. I got almost three hours in the water.  Well worth the 4 hour drive from Richmond, VA.

44Deg. Yikes! Makes me want to get off the computer and put on a jacket and drink some coffee!

 Yes; the water's cold here in North Florida, too. I hit the right point break at the Shoals today with 5 of my sup-buds. I think the water was around 50 or 51 degrees. It really wasn't too bad... I had on booties and my Isurus i-Elite 323 with no gloves or skull-hat. The only time I hurt was when I would eat it in the impact zone and had to prone-paddle over to the channel. My fingers would sting pretty bad. But the waves were WAY worth the hurt. It was like, waist to shoulder with a great bowl that would occasionally wrap around the bar giving you a 150-yard ride. Super fun and so glad I could finally get out there. It's been brutally cold here (for N Fla)...   Later,     JD
