i was told the Coreban pure series runs roughly 10% lighter than the Core series by the distributer... at least on the 10' Icon.

good luck.

are you sure its a vent plug that is missing?... a lot of their boards have the windsurfing mast plug in.

Not to get technical but... if they were in South America, they were most likely Crocs... Crocs tend to be a bit grumpier and a lot more agro than Gators.

That being said, the only way i would paddle that river in Florida would be on a 14' x 40" x 8" barge of a board with Mick Dundee's knife duct taped to the end of my paddle.

Two reasons why SUP will blow past the Kayak;

1: Sup boards are easy to carry and transport for women.

2: Your ass stays dry.

3: Your lower body gets a work out as well.

SUP General / Re: Interesting discussion on the future of SUP

Some of the comments in that discussion remind me a lot of what the Ski industry said about Snowboarding 25 years ago. I grew up 10 minutes from Killington, Vt. (biggest ski area on the East Coast) but for a few years i had to drive 45 minutes to a mountain that allowed snowboarding. In the late 80's many ski companies and ski areas were in serious financial trouble and it turned out that the new sport of snowboarding was what saved many of those companies.

I predict that 10 years from now SUP will be the most popular paddle sport in the world and will be an Olympic event.

28" is not very wide for a beginner paddler with no surf experience that is planning on using it in the waves. My advise would be to get something 30" wide plus... something like a PSH waa, Hobie ATR, Naish Mana or one of the many other all around models geared towards being user friendly in all conditions. Good luck.

Gear Talk / Re: Who surfs with "shorter paddles"?
« on: April 27, 2011, 05:15:45 AM »
I agree with DW. I went from a 6" over to 9" over and feel i have better balance and catch more waves.

There has got to be some significance to body structure as well. If you have 2 guys the same height, one that is long limbed and the other that has a long torso... i would bet that they would end up feeling comfortable with different paddle lengths.

This board looks sweet. A short board for the bigger guys like myself...

Looks like it is still a few months out but wondering if anyone has seen or had one in the water?

Gear Talk / Re: Unintentionally Bent Shaft Paddle?
« on: March 14, 2011, 11:13:06 AM »
might have jumped the gun... the strangeness i felt in the water could easily be attributed to the different shape, longer length and increased flex of the new paddle. upon closer examination, the bend is very slight and could just as easily be the flat surface (table) that i have set the paddle on is not completely flat. i documented the potential issue with the shop where i purchased the paddle and if there is a problem in the future i know they (or the manufacturer) will take car of me. for now i am going to give the paddle a few more sessions to determine if there is a real issue or if its just different from what I'm used to.
