New alu mast does not need shims so the alu 980 full set i bought did not come with any.

The carbon mast needs shim so it probably has them included in a full set...but this is just my guess.

Front wings only i do not know either, still waiting for the 1210 to arrive. My guess is no shim included.

I have a few that i DIY'd with epoxy and fiber any way.

Don't know if i have the flex to pull this one but i will try it:

I think now it will work, scroll down to diameter and lenght you need.

Watching this over and over ... smooth and cool and effective. Would be particularly awesome for turning into waves with speed....avoiding that awkward half second pause as you change hands.

But then the worries and fears and reality check kick in: lighter wind with larger wings, or not being as high on the foil as you should be, you will at some point catch leading edge as you turn.  The drag will mean you come off foil mid turn.  Wing position downwind means your body will land across the wing backwards.  I am wearing a harness hook, so that's a potential rip.  The board and foil at that point will be upwind and moving at speed, good chance it'll run into the leading edge of wing....potential pop.  Adding in murphy's law the board may also flip and then land foil into canopy....more rip potential.

So ... does the potential benefit justify the potential cost?  I think I leaning towards being negative nelly this morning ... for what is a fairly straightforward regular turn, I don't think it's worth the risks for me.  But hey, permanent intermediate over here, I won't ever be winning any style contests.   ;D

I have not tried them yet so this is just me blabbing off...but from what i see in the Gong vid and this last one i posted (good one at 1:46) the leading edge never goes below deck height.
They seem to almost touch their feet with it.

Three more days in the city and i'm off to the coast, will give this a try for sure!.

At 1:11 another beautiful example
Quite a few in this vid

Thanks for the reply.

I'm a little confused.  My experience has been that moving the mast (foil) forward gives me more lift, not less -- by moving the mast back (foil) there is more body weight in front of the foil to counter the foil's lift [front foot heavy move mast (and foil) back -- back foot heavy move mast (and foil) forward].  Am I out to lunch?

When you get it right it feels slicker and faster than a regular duck gybe to me. Its a tweaked duck gybe :)

Sorry for the head spinning orientation  ;D
Proceed as if you are going to do a 360 then just as you are about to backwind tumble the wing over your head. The wind will take it. Wish I had a clip from a viewers perspective. The Gong clip shows it perfectly.

Nice (upside down :) ) vid!.Great examples of the jibe in question.

The advantage i see in the lay down jibes is that the wing is off to the side and aligned with wind and boardspeed in the downwind phase, which is were apparent wind will drop to zero or even negative.

I guess this is why windsurfers adopted it as standard for slalom jibes or big bottom turns.

I have to practice this, they look way cooler than standard jibes too IMHO.

264
Sometimes in low wind i go into a jibe and run into the Wing because i overtake it.

I saw the latest Gong vid and they do a few of this "Lay Down" windsurf style jibes, entry like a 360 and flip the sail just as it begins to backwind.

This may be better for lightish conditions as you cannot run into the Wing, i have not tried it yet.

Good example at 04:56 :

265
Did you use this Additive F stuff?.
I never have but i got terrible fish-eyeing on some epoxy jobs (a table and two carbon wing foil board handles) and i  have been told it works great for finishing coats.

This is their specific DW sup foil board.
Compare it to the other wave sups in their line and the differerences are easy to see.

I live in one of the wind capitals of the world, SF.  Quality probably a notch or so below Maui or the Gorge, but we have numbers as in millions of residents.

The local shops struggle to have stock.

I've heard fone ozone ensis are either out of stock, or low stock, and months out to get stock.

I don't dare sell a wing or board because who knows how long until I get a replacement.

If there are lots of wing companies I'm not seeing them here

+1
In Spain there is a persistent rumour that stock will run out before summer.
I am buying first and selling later, and the selling is going pretty easy.

If the booties have some rubber above the sole (and most of them do) they can grip like crazy on the strap lining.
I am using Solite booties now and the thermoformable material does not grab on the footstrap nearly as much as rubber. They are not as warm as standard neoprene booties though.

Neoprene lined straps are a lot grabbier than ultralight windsurf or specific wingfoil straps with the bare EVA foam as liner in my experience.

I set them different than i used to when i windsurfed, with wider distance between the screws and flatter strap (less arch). This also gives you some fore-aft foot movement and allows for twisting out in a fall...sometimes.

"Pafoil-What do you mean "don't mess around with knee starts"?  I don't see any other choice to get up on my 80L. I have gotten close to a waterstart in high winds but that will be rare in my spot. I suppose a true sinker(40L) would allow me to get in straps without kneeling. "

I use the same technique for sinkers for my 89 L,  just lay on the deck, insert your back foot sinking the board a bit and then pull up and insert your front foot. The secret is stay very low , with your ass almost touching the board. Use the wing leading edge for support. I will try to get a video today.
Regards

Ok,but that is not a "waterstart" as in windsurf...
It is more like a surf popup no?
