I've been in saltwater doing my thing, in various forms, for about 50 years now, and about 18 years ago I was diagnosed with the dredded 'surfers ear'.  I was given a choice, get the rotor-rooter job, or arrest the condition.  Having many friends who got the roto-rooter job only to have the condition return, due mostly to ear protection neglect, I decided to arrest the condition, ie. no more water gets in the ears.  I tried every plug on the market, every one!  Sorry Doc, your proplugs suck also, no solid seal.  But I found, with the advice of some surfing hardcores that live and surf at 'The Ranch' just north of Santa Barbara, the purfect plug.  Good old fashioned Silly Puddy, that's right, Silly Puddy, in the egg, and not any knockoffs like Funny Puddy, it melts, but the real thing, it has to be "Silly Puddy"!  I use about 1/4 of it in each ear, it bonds to the skin for a great seal, and then it is easy to remove, there is nothing like it.  It will start to break down and become kinda slimy after about 75 to 100 go-outs, depending on water temp, but then it's just time to get a new egg, too easy!  Since I've been using it, I've had no problems with my ears, none!
Just trying to spread the 'healthy' love.
P.S.  The flesh colored lasts the longest, and stay away from the color changing kind, it wears out the fastest.................... trust me, tried them all.

Longboarding when I was a kid, that's all there was, evolved to shortboards with everyone else until the early 80's, then windsurfing totally swept me, big time.  I was getting just tired to having to be an asshole just to get waves with the surfing crowd.  The windsurfing crowd was mostly mature people, just what I was looking for, and I was getting tired of prone paddling anyway.  Couldn't relate to the kites when they came along, seemed to be a step 'away' from true surfing, plus I witnessed too many kite-trastophes, but they were having fun when the wind died down too much for good windsurfing.  So I watched, until SUP's came along, I tried, I'm hooked, end of story.  Now I've got most conditions covered,,,,, as it should be.

My girlfriend always calls me a weasel when ever we play cards, and my so called surf buddies keep saying "that weasel is getting all the waves", but that is usually associated with windsurfing.  So now I wear it proudly, and I'm just a lovable weasel anyway.

In my area, they call us "the sweepers", mostly by the kiters, aka "al-kite-a".
"Bummer, there's  sweepers out there, lets go kite somewhere else."
But we are all of the age to where we all get along, we try to respect everyone else's space.  At first it was meant as a derogatory term, but the sweepers have since adopted it as a name of honor, after all what does a sweeper do but cleanup?

Thanks for all this feedback on this issue.  As an expert surfer and windsurfer, I now know (after a couple go-outs on flat water  ), that I have about 17 1/2 hours to go, before my leg's muscle memory kicks in.
