Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / Re: New Duotone Wings

The ‘Slick’ will be available in Europe in May/ June 2021

I solved with Ion pre curved gloves.
Warm and no arm pump

I love to keep my foils always like new, usually I pay a professionist to the the job, I never thought about the technique to use to fix the scartches, but I found this on YouTube:

This guy is using either putty with black pigmented powder and hardener or bi component epoxy.
Is that tutorial correct?
Do you guys follow other procedures?
Thanks!

I did a custom carbon boom cutting a windsurf race carbon boom (in order to make it adjustable) and i used the plastic ends of the original duotone boom.
I wanted at the beginning the make custom carbon ends but it was too comolicate and too expensive.
The weight is almost the same of the original boom but the wing benefits in a very noticeable way. More rigid and more responsive.

I also was concerned about that more dihedral shape compared to the Echo knowing myself the problems of the Echo. But I honestly can’t think they are producing a wing that is worst than his previous generation.
The whole world seems to go in less dihedral ( Ensis, Armstrong and others) and wider tips (new prototypes of Gong and Duotone) but they are doing exactly the opposite with what it looks an high Ar wing.
Maybe there is something we all still missing..? I can’t wait to try the Strike at this point
One thing is for sure: nobody jumps that high...

Thank you Dwight.
Yes that concept is very interesting, i’m wondering if with that they solve the rolling problem that the Echo usually have in waves.
Regarding that wider shape, Gong came out few days ago with a very similar shape and the owner, Patrice Guenole, said that after tens of prototypes that shape works the best.

Just make sure the brand you choose will fully support you in case you have problems with your new wing (explosion or other kind of problems).
And between a 2020 F one Swing and a non-windsport brand 2021 wing that has no feedback i would stick to F One.

Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / How can i ride a wave?
« on: November 27, 2020, 09:12:03 AM »
Good afternoon,
Yesterday it was my first time on a 1 minute wave riding with total depowered wing, what a feeling!!! i was laughing alone in the ocean thinking how crazy is that!
As i mentioned in my other comment i can clearly see the essence of this sport now, at least in my opinion.
So what i do to ride a wave is taking some speed and when i'm at the section of the wave where a feel its power i depower the wing and start to surf the wave only with the power of the foil.
At this point or i go straight down but i reach a lot of speed so i am faster than the wave behind me and most of the time i stall because of that (by the time the wave reach me i lost the power of the foil). Or i follow the diagonal curve of the wave especially with the steeper wave.
In the videos on youtube i see instead that rippers curve with their foil (instead of going just straight) actually to maintain that energy in  that pocket of the wave. Is it correct? The only positive thing i noticed  is that when i ride a wave i don't think about the wing, it just sit there without moving (i have a 4mt Unit) and i also don't have to think about the foil that is super fast but always so in control and never breaches (Armstrong 1250HS). At this point what should i try to do? Turn my chest like a surfers do and try to stay on the top end of the wave? or what?
I'm sorry it might sound like a stupid question but i really need an advice from wave riders in order to progress.
Thank you all.

Hello Dwight,
I’m interested in how do you feel going back to something not full carbon.
What Axis wing are you using instead of the 1250 hs’ Armstrong?

« on: November 10, 2020, 05:58:49 AM »
Hi everybody,
i've heard very good things about Lift foils for foil surf, but what about for winging?
Does anyone of this forum use them for winging, if yes which one?
i'm interested in the HA series.
Thank you!!

Vb,
I have exactly your same feeling.
Especially heelside to toe side tack are more difficult on the 1250hs In my opinion

45
I was riding today in 8/10 knots with a echo 5mt and my Armstrong 1550hs.(my weight is 57kg)
Well it was not a ride, I would say a fight!  I manage to get on foil but my arms and legs were exhausted after 30 min, since it was a constant hard working.
And then I saw a video of a F one rider (his weight is 64kg), riding a swing 4.2mt  and a phantom 1280 in what he said it was 8 knots wind.
So i am really curious to see what is the really low end of my mew 1250 which I tried in 14/16 knots and I simply loved it and since I found it more efficient than the 1550hs, maybe there is a chance to have it as one quiver front wing, considering also that going in 10,knots is not fun anymore for me.
Did someone already tried it in a very light wind?
Thanks!
