Gear Talk / Re: Surftech Generator 11'6
« on: November 12, 2013, 03:08:42 PM »
I have a surftech generator and love it!! surfs really well, I use it mainly in smaller surf. I stupidly sold my laird 12.1 and bought the generator as a replacement and am really happy with it ….. with the low rocker you can catch anything!!

Thank you for all the suggestions.

2014 Glide looks nice, but not many used.  Maybe I grab that 2013 glide until I find a good deal on what I really want.

Anyone have the Bark/Laird 14?

The fanatic boards do look nice.  Wary of carbon for daily driver for now.  If I get into hardcore racing I will get one for just racing, but for now looking tuflite/AST I think...

I have the Bark Laird 14, yes it is incredibly stable and great in chop, I highly recommend...... and very strong too

14' x 30" Fanatic falcon is very good in short-period swell, especially in side chop. The new 14' x 29" NSP/DC shape should be worth a look as well (haven't been on the production board, I expect to test one next week but the 28" proto was very slick and crazy stable in slop)
just curious? where are you going to test the new shape?

Have surfed in overhead waves on my 12.1 laird but it's def dicey, you don't want to get hit with that board ....... also have a 9'0'' and 10'5''

Don't fool yourself cause it's march water is still low forties ...... I have 7m excel boots but prefer quicksilver due the tread having a much better grip, I find the excel slippery when susing ........ as far as gloves I prefer lobster (quicksilver) glove for real cold temps and they grip good

Gear Talk / Re: Comparison between Bark Dominator and Laird/Bark
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:38:13 AM »
Funkart,  I find the Laird/Bark tracks really well with an Alyson gladiator fin.  I am a bit taller at 6'2" but it track real straight for me.  Long paddle long reach and straight as an arrow.  I find it straighter than the Fanatic 14 or starboard 14 that I had.
The extra width gives me a stable platform to paddle harder and faster.

Thx I'll have to try a gladiator  -----

I had the 2011 dominator and I traded up to the 2012 bark/laird tuflite I'm 5-11'' weight 196lbs and I find the new board has much more stability I really liking it much better although I think the 2011 tracked a little better, probably due to the width diff  maybe the paddle goes in a little more angled I'm still working on but I much more comfortable in all conditions(most of my paddling in in the ocean.
