How about this? They all were idiots for being out there. There are miles of coastline, no wave is worth that BS. If you want to "summer" somewhere, if you're not in the entertainment industry, there are a ton of better places to be than Malibu. Are we surfers or wanna be celebutants? I live in LA and if I could move somewhere to surf for the summer, even in SoCal, it'd not be that particular hood. Leave it to the locals who are likely the last generation of their families to be able to afford to live there. In 10 more years it'll be new money millionaires and showbiz types who've bought their way in and we'll all be able to surf it cause "local" won't mean a thing. I hate localism and I hate violence but special thanks to the Pro for keeping the black eye shining on our flavor of surfing by doing something so lame that even we can't defend it. Hope you get some endorsement money from the old perma-tanned investment bankers who want to cash in on SUP that I'm sure you're there to meet. And enjoy the parties you get invited to while we're the flavor of the month. I'm betting not many pro windersurfers get invited to high fashion events lately.

It's a magnet. I need to see some articles or reviews from someone other than the company. All their links are to sites where you can post your own articles and press releases. Where's the beef? Someone call Mythbusters.

yeah, just throw the $5 pfd at your feet and move on.
Or spring for the inflatable belt. no sense giving "the man" a reason to hassle you.

Here's what I've seen.
First paddle - adjustable fiberglass and plastic, came with my inflatable and it weighs a ton. Clearly there's a difference there.
Second, and current, I bought an inexpensive SurfCore carbon. It's way lighter and a great intermediate paddle, but I find that it "hunts" and wobbles sometimes in the water. I'm playing with the grip a bit now, (I'm using it taped on while I play with length) so I'll report back when that's glued up nicely but it's way lighter than my first and so better in that respect but still I question the hydrodynamics overall.
Knowing what I know about how boards and hulls flow through water, I'm betting that the boys and girls at the better paddle makers have learned a thing or two. I do know that paddles feel different to me, and I'm sure that translates to performance.

I'm a computer geek for a living so let me pay back all the surf/SUP info I've gathered with some hopefully good info on this subject.
It's confusing... mostly because we confuse size with resolution.
Photos are shot by most cameras now at really high resolutions so that you can print them on paper and they look nice. A decently nice print (magazines for instance) are about 300 dpi or dots per inch. So, if you had a picture that you wanted to print at 8X10" you'd need a picture that was at least 2400X3000 "dots" or pixels.
In paper, the picture's size is the same but more dots per inch, means a better photo print. (yes, I'm generalizing here, this is a quick one)
Now, computer screens aren't like paper, they have a pixel size that is the maximum resolution and it's usually fixed. If you have a laptop you probably top out at about 1280 pixels wide. A fancy home monitor might be a full HD monitor and display 1920X1080 pixels (or way better for some of you) So the more pixels in the photo, the less of the photo that will fit on the screen at one time without scrolling.
That means that if your nice camera shoots pictures that are high quality they are way over 2000 pixels wide and so only like half of a picture fits in a browser window on a computer screen. Some big shots will be over 5000 pix wide and that's why you get the wacky pix.
So the answer is to size them down with software or a web site that does it for you for showing here, and if you want to print, use the high res original.
DJ is right on with the 800 wide number. I might go lower. On a laptop, the "zone's" useable text area is about 600 pix wide. So, when you're posting here, maybe smaller. If you're on a photo sharing site, you can go bigger, but over 1200 wide and most folks will have to scale things to see them.
One final tip - on a Mac computer + or - (command or control and the plus or minus key) will size your browser larger or smaller and let you see those pics better) Control and 0 or Command and 0 will get you back to normal size in most browsers.

We paddle the marina a lot, but the canals seem pretty dirty. Am I wrong?

Oh come ODJ, everyone is cool on the internet. Oh and by the way, I just tried a new ______ it's amazing. I've never had such a great session/workout/leap of skill! (choose one) You can go over to www.hypemyproductwhilefakingbeingarider.com and check it out! Honestly, I've never tried such a great board/fin/book/workout/shop (pick one). There's a place on here for announcements and most cool brand guys use them but I do hate the weird fakers too. Admin, how about a 3 strike rule?

Corran, what's the weight gonna be like on those? (we won't hold you to it)
I'm just thinking compared to a standard foam/glass/epoxy version.

The "ruler" in Google earth works great and calculates the distance of a drawn path in km or miles. Not sure if that's in the iPad version but you can do it on your desktop at home.
I used runkeeper this weekend and it was fine, if you're using an iphone gps. It's free.
