Man, I tell everyone the same, learn one small thing at a time, as you need or want the skill. Over time, that makes an expert.

I'm learning to surf. I have a long way to go, but each wave takes me a little further down that road.

What software you using? I'll bet there's some good online tutorials.

Sorry, kook, missed you!

Man, we use Cinema Tools which comes with the full FCP. I'll dig around on this. You can do a speed change in FCP to do it but that takes time. Check that in your source window and see if express has that effect, on most any mac it should be a real time effect.

I'm gonna google some stuff and see if there's a free tool for slow down.

(EDIT) - That was quick - http://www.qtsync.com/qtsync.php

Check it, there's a menu option for "change movie playback speed" and you're golden. Drop that 60p into 29.97 or whatever rate you're working at and you're off and running.

Hey guys, his issue isn't the music being remove by youtube, it's not making it into his final output.

YouTube can only take the whole audio track down if it's in violation, they can't extract the music. Notice, he has the Gopro sound just not any music. If you've been flagged, it'll remove it all.

Like I said, YouTube will give you music if you just edit your video using audio swap on their page. Free and legal.

Man, I cheat. I support pro video editors for a living and design and build editing systems. And I have a secret weapon... my Wife is an editor for a living so she showed me how to operate this thing. (I build them, I don't fly them!)

I used Apple's Final Cut Pro, but the software is not really relevant. It's just basic skills that any program should be able to get you doing. Apple makes it easy, with iMovie and has a great pro app in FCP, but there are great Windows programs too.

The transitions are just dissolves, any program can do them. I chose a somewhat matching shot and then dissolved between them. The rotation at the end was pretty fancy and most "home" editing stuff doesn't do that sort of thing, but I love the carry in and out in videos but always want to see them upright.

I read lifehacker a lot and they have a good intro to the basics. Also, check online for tutorials on your program. I'll bet there's tons of them on youtube.

If you're willing to dig in and learn, you can make great movies on any platform. What program are you using? I'm a master googler and I'll try to find you some good tutorials.

A good 70º day in SoCal January. 58º water and some good friends from Coreban showed up and we filled the lineup with 'em.

The fog strips are cool, but it's hilarious. $15 for 6 tiny pieces of "something." If I source a sheet of this stuff I'm gonna send you all strips just out of principle. ;)

Kneil, I have a similar thing and so far my chiropractor has diagnosed it as a strain. If it's hurting down the upper line into your bicep, I'm betting it's a strained bicep tendon.

If I reach over and rub my shoulder just above the nipple line there's a tendon in there that feels like a steel cable. I'm getting mine stretched out again, but man it is a killer. Also that shoulder is now higher than the other when I reach up just due to muscles being tight so I'm working to loosen those up and drop that shoulder.

Man I don't do windows but I'm betting there's a place where you mix the audio down on the way out. If you had 2 gopro audio tracks and then added 2 more of music, you'll need to mix those down to 2 tracks for the output. I'm betting there's a setting somewhere to make that happen.

Awesome video. One tip on the music. You can look at the top of the video on YouTube and see a link for AudioSwap. That's the way you add stock music to your videos, you can even mix it a little to keep some of the surf sounds.

That wave looks so fast.

Now that I own one and have done some tests I can help clear up some things.

Quick note on the 960 GoPro as far as it's "HD" capabilities.

It shoots 1280X720, which is HD. (All those football games you watch on Fox HD are 1280X720 also known as 720p) The angle of vision is the same in 720 as 1080 so if you're looking for a good, cheap camera, don't worry about the video coming from the 960. However, it doesn't do the 60 frame speed so slo-mo won't be as good, but if you want to shoot "HD" videos for the web for not a lot of bread, there's no reason not to have this one. Also, no bacpac works with it so it's just a shooter.

The toughest thing to keep straight is that 1080, 960 and 720 are the height of the videos when talking about HD. But when you look at a standard def frame, it's 720 WIDE. so it's super confusing.

GoPro added the extra frame height for the 960 model but it seems like that would be the width and so not "real" HD. This is not the case.

Argue all you want about 1080 vs 720, but on the web, I challenge anyone to really be able to tell. (this is coming from a digital video engineer who makes his living working on quite few TV shows and yes, web shows.)

In the end, the best camera is the one you have and if it's a difference between no camera and the 960, you'll be fine for most uses. That said, the HD2 is pretty amazing for the money but I know there'll be a ton of 960's at a good price this year. I might get one as a second camera for another angle.

Check surfline. The mavs wave video on the NorthPac feature is terrifying. 3 or 4 guys caught in it and just get pummeled.

I see now that there are 2 and maybe 3 in this run. I'm trying to weigh the shoulder condition. Maybe I'll go play on the way up or down to get my feet wet again. Hard to pass up summer conditions and a winter swell.

GoPro Surf Hero HD 2 - from my in-laws... I told you I married the right girl. ;)

H2O, how did they know it was your camera? Where and how was your GP marked?
