Random / OC1 Maui

I know, what an inappropriate topic on here 

I'm heading to Maui next week and really want to try an OC1. I've called around and haven't had any luck with any shops renting them by the day or at all.

Any of the local guys on here know of any shop or anywhere that rents OC1's or OC2's? I'm not looking for the latest and greatest canoe, just one I can give it a try on for a day or 2

How many Maui to Molokai races are held each year? I've heard of 2...one in May and one in September. Does anyone know the dates of these races or any others that are held between the islands?

SUP General / Lockable Ceiling Rack

Gear Talk / QB Kanaha vs. Elite

I wanted to see if you guys knew of any differences between the QB Kanaha and the QB Elite Racer. Is it strictly a weight difference as only the shafts differ and the blades the same? Or is the Elite also much stiffer?

I'm trying to stay away from super-stiff paddles that hurt the shoulders, but would love the lightness of the Elite. So how much stiffer is the Elite than the Kanaha? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Wind Powered / Kiting with a 12' Glide

Had a blast on my Naish Glide and 3m Trainer Kite...wind 20-25mph

I was surprised at the amount of speed I could pick up with that small of a kite. I'm definately going to try it again on the next windy day

Gear Talk / Naish Catalina

I'm considering the jump from my 12' Glide up to a 12'6 Catalina. Can those of you that have ridden both boards or just the Catalina offer some insight on the additional speed that can be had with slightly longer waterline and 3" less width? If the difference isn't that great than I'll stick with my Glide as it's a great all-rounder.

I haven't heard much about them which is surprising, I know they've been released because I saw a guy at the Round the Rock race using one for the 13 mile.

Gear Talk / Flutter

I'm an experienced paddler and have been experiencing noticeable and annoying flutter with my C4 Race Paddle...

I haven't had this problem with any other paddle i've used. What is the science behind paddle fluttering? Does the "catch" effect the smoothness of the stroke? It seems I have to really concentrate with this paddle and be gentle with it to keep it from fluttering...Any ideas on the issue?

Gear Talk / Optimum Training/Race Paddle, narrowed it to 2...

Hi guys let me introduce myself to the forum. I'm upgrading to a fitness/training/race paddle that I will use on flat-water. I'm 6'1, weight 165 and ride a 12' Naish Glide.

I've narrowed it down to the C4 XPR Carbon/Kevlar Race Paddle and the Kialoa Nalu.

Out of these 2, which would I benefit most from for these disciplines. Unfortunately it's difficult to demo paddles up here in Seattle that are rare like these 2. Thanks!
