It's all about trying to keep moving, any movement really.Couch time is the killer, especially as the days get shorter.
The summer svelte soon turns to the fall flab, then winter weight,on to spring slim and back to the "little bit of summer what the whole years all about"......unless you're in California or Hawaii and then there is really no excuse. 67

Downwind and Racing / Re: Adventure to the dark side« on: October 30, 2014, 09:36:37 PM »Crunches are so old school.Pilates will build your core much more efficiently, balance the whole body and get your back ready and strong.Things like what I see in this thread are why I said "Water--yes, SUP--no" in the "Are you a SUP addict" thread. Much as I love standup, I could see myself being pretty happy in an outrigger or especially a surfski. So much of what's good about one seems good about the other. 69

SUP General / Re: Prone surfers judge us by thier standards.« on: October 15, 2014, 07:35:40 PM »
I have the feeling that if you think you look funny Sup'ing, then your prone surfing probably doesn't look much better.
Whether it surfing,golfing,skiing,whatever....the ones with the real skills look good doing it. That's not to say people don't get it done with less skills and maybe not as pretty. It's about enjoying the time, trying hard and not worrying about how it looks. That's the beauty of photos over video, you can tell a story with a still shot but the video won't lie. As for Sup not as visually pleasing to watch as prone surfing, watch Adriano Lima ,Big Guy Ripping in the Shared Stoke thread. As the kids get involved it will only get better. 72

SUP General / Re: What Am I Missing Here?« on: October 09, 2014, 10:37:22 AM »I've read several posts wrt the BOP, and the numerous thoughts on the pros and cons of the various venues on where it should be held and why, but what's not registering with me, is the several posts that talk about the need or appreciation for greater coverage of the sport....I don't think this hurts the sport at all....pissing off the locals at Salt Creek isn't going to harm the sport and the coverage and scale of the BOP on the world stage...pretty powerful.I understand the inherent feelings of the need for "the coverage and scale of the BOP on the world stage...pretty powerful", but for what reason, why would we want or even need it? Exactly.....unless you happen to drive an older model Sienna and come from the frozen north 75
SUP General / Re: BOP Crash Kai v Connor« on: October 09, 2014, 10:11:14 AM »It's no wonder they hate us. If it was surf contest that would be one thing. But to take over one of the premier surf spots on one of the last south swells of summer, just to watch top athletes cope with the conditions on the wrong equipment for the conditions? Not to take anything away from anybody that competed, but that video makes stand up look pretty bad. I am unanimous with that comment also |
