Foil SUP / Re: Any info on new GoFoil Wings
« on: June 01, 2019, 10:07:37 AM »
Just finished my 41.5" wide higher aspect wing.  It has a very slight dihedral, starting at the root which gently bends, gently, almost flat, to anhedral and only dips down to pronounced anhedral in the last 4 inches , nearer to the wing tip.  Used 1.5 degrees of washout.   As that video shows, there does not seem to be any difficulty in bank turns.  I also do not realize any drop during turns.  I'm happy as well as the guys who have tried the new GL wing.  Maybe GL stands for Gull wing?  BTW-  That video is frickin amazing!
Could you post some pics. of your wing and give an update on how it rides?

Nice job Jacko! A lot of useful information there. You and Jeremy Riggs are both good at filming and narrating while actually doing. I find it most difficult to maintain focus for a long downwinder. Losing concentration usually ends in coming down off the foil and having to pump or paddle to keep going. Another guy on Seabreeze, I think JB describes something he calls ďretreatingĒas when you use the speed or energy from one bump to peel off that one and search for the next and so forth. I learn more each time I go and as many have said,it gets easier the more you go. Thanks for sharing

That wouldíve been fine on a maliko as you likely would make it to kanaha.
On the south side you would be lucky to make it to  Kahoolawe. If not, itís a long ride to Tahiti.😉

Here is how MR does it. No leaks in mine and about 11lbs. including deck pad.
Canít seem to post the video but scroll through his posts and youíll see it.

Maybe this will work for some of you who are having difficulties sup foiling. Not my thing though. I would rather use a standard kite setup or just windsurf.

Didnít know you were coming. There were some small waves in the harbor this afternoon. Better for foiling. Hope your visit is an enjoyable one. I did see Bill and his rig on my way home and waved as I passed. Maybe you were with him. I hope to meet you sometime while youíre here. Aloha

Hold the presses! We may have a solution for my needs. Apparently Alex is already onto the idea of a higher aspect wing for my go foil. Not sure if they are in production yet. Looks mighty similar to the signature that I like. The downside is itís probably more than $50 💰

Congratulations container! Your hard work and skills payed off. Many of us who DIY are impressed. Iíve been contemplating making a high aspect wing like the signature albatross for a while. Already have the go foil but that signature pumps like a mofo. I like the method that SUPeter uses with the carbon laced wings but I donít think I have the skills. I wish go foil would make one however I probably wonít want to pay $$$ to get it and then modify to fit my existing. SUPeter, correct me if Iím wrong, but didnít you mention in another thread that your materials cost per wing was approximately $50 or so? If so I could afford a few throwaways to get it right.

Sorry, but that seems wrong to me. Reminds me of Kai with the carrot 🥕
Something about gliding along with the energy from the swells that is surreal and that flapping wing would take that all away. Just wear a wingsuit already.  ;D

Today was a better day for kitesurfing. ;) Plenty of size outside of the harbor. Bill, I know you were learning to kite. Did you ever get the hang of it?

Were you on your foil on the Kihei run? I noticed the wind was looking pretty darn good on the cams. Wished some of that wind would show up on the weekends so I could enjoy it.  :(
