http://mauinews.com/news/2007/12/4/01weta1204.html"Meanwhile, Maui County officials closed Baldwin and Hookipa beach parks at 2:30 p.m. Monday because of surf that reportedly had faces reaching as high as 60 to 70 feet outside the reef, according to a county news release." Stopped and watched that for a bit on the way home. Enourmous slow motion closeouts in Turtle Bay. Lots of lost shoreline yesterday. Check out the pic of RR at the picturesque Kahului Harbor as well. The North shore was pretty well vacant (excluding bay inner reefs, which looked pretty torn up) with only a small group of tow ins going out. Some beautiful wrap around though, pulling in waves at pretty odd directions for some of the West spots, making them look (and behave) like completely different breaks. Really fun.

Hi all, I have a small favor to ask. If you could, please visit youtube, login and review our video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxhpIr1G6NE&eurl=http://www.standupzone.com/ . As you know, YouTube gets a huge amount of trafic (5th most visited website), and your ratings will help us reach more viewers that may be interested in what we are doing here. Additionally, if you have a blog or a manufacturer website that is related to the Standup world, please link us from your site. This all in an attempt to develop an even stronger community here, and share what is going on with all those who are into it. Please note, this is in no way obligitory. We will keep on linking anyone and everyone that is related to this great sport, regardless of if they choose to link us back. Best, Randy and Chantalle

Oh well, as long as the North stays blustery, we'll take it!
I know that a bunch of the big wave guys from here headed down "way south" today, where it is reportedly getting big already.
Pat Caldwell:
THE NEXT SYSTEM NOSED S OF NEW ZEALAND LAST WEDNESDAY WITH STORM-FORCE WINDS. AS THE SYSTEM TRACKED SE TO E OF NEW ZEALAND...THE WIND SPEEDS DECREASED. HOWEVER...THE FETCH WAS EXCEPTIONALLY BROAD AND LONG.
LONG PERIOD FORERUNNERS ARE EXPECTED LOCALLY ON THURSDAY FROM 190-200 DEGREES WITH 16-19 SECOND PERIODS. SURF SHOULD BUILD TO MODERATE LEVELS. THE EPISODE WILL LIKELY PEAK FRIDAY...AT LOW-END HIGH LEVELS...AND SLOWLY DROP INTO SUNDAY FROM 180-200 DEGREES.
INTO THE LONG RANGE...THE SYSTEM TRACKED EAST AND INCREASED IN INTENSITY SOUTH OF FRENCH POLYNESIA OVER THE PAST DAY. STORM-FORCE WINDS OVER A LONG...WIDE FETCH ARE AIMED AT TARGETS SLIGHTLY EAST OF HAWAII. THIS PATTERN SUGGESTS A ROUND OF EVEN HIGHER SURF LOCALLY...BUILDING LATE SUNDAY FROM 170-185 DEGREES...PEAKING MONDAY...AND DROPPING BACK TO MODERATE LEVELS BY WEDNESDAY FROM 160-180 DEGREES. THE PATTERN LOOKS MORE TYPICAL OF NOVEMBER AFTER THIS EPISODE WITH ONLY TINY TO SMALL SURF LOCALLY STARTING THE END OF NEXT WEEK.

Hi all, In an effort to improve ourselves as a useful hub for the stand up community, we have redone the video section to go out and fetch for you the most recent online videos, all without venturing far from the Zone. This page will act similarly to our new blogs page. You can find the two new permanant links on the menu bars at the top of each page. Here they are: http://www.standupzone.com/video.htmhttp://www.standupzone.com/rss.htm

Hi all, I need a bit of advice on our new product review feature. We had received numerous emails requesting a simpler means to get products and reviews onto the site. Those requests were quite correct, as our old method was horrible, but the new interface seems pretty straight forward, and well...easy, to me. So my question, did we miss on this one? It still strikes me that by the number of viewers to that portion of the site, that this is a big point of interest, and could be a valuable resource. Let me know if there is a problem that we are missing. If not, please, throw yourself out there and review a product or two. If you are here, you have likely tried at least one board and a paddle. Help us get this thang started.
Thanks!

Hi to all,
To commemorate our 3 Month anniversary as a community (yeahhh!), we are announcing some new functionality.
Many of you have commented that our photo gallery and review site were in need of a little help. Right you were. We do take your suggestions sreiously, and aim to make this site as useful, and fun, as it can be for its users (all of us).
Today I put online the new photo gallery site (link above-on the menu bar). This will no longer require our users to post their pictures elsewhere and then link to them. Now, you can simply upload your pictures directly to our server. Additionally, your shots will automatically go into a gallery of your own, that you can share with friends, etc. You can comment on, and rate each others shots as well. Your Stand Up Zone login will work on all of our sub-sites, so no need to create a new user.
Please upload your shots to help get us started!
Additionally, a full function review site will be coming in the next few days that will follow a similar format to the photo site.
Please post any problems that you are having with any new siite functions, so that we can work through them.
Thanks, Randy
