imo a wetsuit is better.
I use 2/2 or 3/2 depends on the temperature or 4/3 if you fall lots in freezing condition.

I'm guessing 14ft x 30" wide and buy it cheap for your 1st race board. I've only done a few races and been beaten by paddlers quarter the price of my $etup

Only seen the ninja once during a race in chop and confused waters and pass me like a stood still
So I'm guessing the ninja will go well on most condition except downwinding.

You'll be fine with your weight and the condition you describe.
I never tried the ninja 14x25 however I paddled almost similar size sonic board 14x24.5 and at the beginning I was 85kg (187lb), now I'm 80kg (180lb).

with your weight any of those board above you mention will do the job.
do you prefer flat or dugout deck?
the only desadvantge with dugout deck is water coming into the deck and boggs you out and slow you down.
dugout deck is a preference thing.
If you want one board to do all then get a flat deck (nsp puma, starboard allstar & sunova allround pro )  otherwise keep your current board and get 2nd board as dugout (nsp sonic, sunova faast pro & starboard ace).

Do the little drain holes not work well for getting rid of water on the dugouts?

It depends on the situation but most of the time it only take less than a minute. Just keep moving and  the water drains out.

the sonic & Faast Pro are deep recess dugout deck (canoe) and AS is slight recess deck (kinda flat).
