Hey there, I went to pick up pizza last night and saw a few cars covered in what I first thought in the snow, then I was like, wait it could not be snow as the temperature too high. I parked my car around the corner and went to look closer. Then I realized - this is sand from the beach!! I have no idea how owners would clean this up afterward but in those 2 mins I spent here I got sand everywhere - in my ears, eyes, mouth; my hood was blown off and I had a full head of sand, so when I get back home I had to take a shower Sent video to local channels, they aired it last night and posted on FB; so here it is..

Hey there,
I scored a used Kialoa and wanna set the handle with hot glue. I have a glue gun and bunch of sticks as I use a hot glue a lot when I ship packahes internationally (instead scotch tape). From my experience, melted glue doesn't spread well unless you make it really hot. Is this how you do it? Do you need to pre-heat the shaft or handle or both? How much glue to use: few rings around the handle or few lines along the shaft?
Thank you

Hi,
As I was driving Storrow Drive past Sunday, I've noticed a lot of ppl were jogging, cycling, etc ... kayaking ... I wondered "would it be cool to paddle Charles river, from let say, Mt Auburn hospital to Museum of Science, or something like that.. To my surprise, I didn't see many stand up paddlers on the water.
Anyone up to a stroll at some point?
On another hand, wondering if anyone organizes something similar in the area. I mean besides the surfing

Hey there, Just finished installing my first traction pad. Finally! Between all projects, this one was on the back burner for too long. In the end, it was not that difficult. But I had to pull the first piece because I started to install in uneven. My board had a factory installed pad but it short and I had a hard time as soon as I try to move a little bit back. I've got a large pre-cut kit from Amazon and altered it. Boing always paranoid about details and appearance, I made paper templates for all panels that need to be cut, u can see pieces of rosin paper in some shots. I think it turned out not bad. Cannot wait to try it

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm too thick or something, but I don't see "Sent" messages folder listed under "My Messages". I tried to contact a member here and since I didn't hear back I was thinking to check if my message had been sent. And I know that I selected "keep sent messages" checkbox in settings. Is it me or just a way it is?
Thanks

Hi there, I recently realized I need to add some traction to the tail section of my Bark Expedition. Unfortunately, it has the only center section covered by factory mat (exactly as on my profile pic) and I slid off the tail left and right obviously. I'm leaning toward the traction pad as I want uniformed surface.. I knee paddle sometimes and my thinking is that a traction pad would be more comfortable for knees. Here is the link on 12 panel set on amazon http://tinyurl.com/ycp8aqdhDid anyone use this one?

Hi there,
Since my only board is out of commission for a while, I'm thinking to get another 14 footer and looking in at 3 boards. Not sure if you find them comparable but they have similar size and approximately same asking price
2016 JP 14' Sportster Open Ocean, 14 by 28 carbon 2015 Starboard All Star, 14 by 28 carbon 2016 Naish Glide 14'0" x 29 GTW
I own Bark Expedition that I use in Boston harbor on calm days. I don't race. I think I would like the board would weigh less that my Bark (32+ lbs), would go better in straight and would be less affected by chop and side waves. Still I want to learn how to DW and follow small bumps across the bay.. I didn't find lot of info on Sportster or Glide, but AllStar looks like does it all.
Any suggestions?
p.s. Are these carbon board really fragile and difficult to keep in good condition?

Hello, My Surftech's BARK presumably sucked up some water ( original post here https://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,31832.0.html) and in need to be fixed. Any suggestion for good shop in the area (where you would bring your only board)? I don't mind to drive an hour one way so it makes the area of search roughly from Hampton to Gansett. Thank you in advance

Hi there, I took my board out for short session this morning and on the way back home (I just walk to water, ho I was holding it) I noticed I have a hard time to balance it balancing it with center handle. It's clearly nose-heavy and I don't remember it was like this before. Last time I used it in January and it stored in dry basement in its bag. It's so noticeable that I recorded short clip to demonstrate it. I also weighted it with basic floor scale and it came up as 33.2 lbs with wet handles. I don't see any cracks or other damage .. Except a couple open holes for a bottle holder - but I thought board should not take water through these? And when I looked closely at zoomed pic it looks like there's a tiny crack around it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ulKd6VXrxgTmxqdjNWdmIza0E/view?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ulKd6VXrxgYVhyWDhfbkNNYnM/view?usp=sharing Does it mean it take water? Is there a cure ? so bummed if it is

Hello everyone, I was on vacation in Puerto Rico last week and we were staying in Mariott in Coronado. One day I've noticed a couple of surfers on SUP having fun on outer reef in front of the hotel and managed to take few pics. let me know if you are here and want to see those grainy images oA

Hi,
As a fall is getting closer I'm wondering what you guys wear when water and air temp drop and wearing trunks and rushguard is little chilly? it's going to be my first fall on SUP and think I need to buy something before it's time for wetsuit. I'm usually out for 30-60 min sess in Boston harbor.
Thanks in advance oA

Hi there, One of my intentions for getting into sport was a desire to shred some weight. I was wondering if I'm not alone and if anyone seen significant progress and care to share story and , especially how much you paddle or how you decide on how much you paddle, do you have a routine, etc.. I'm almost 6' (182 cm), and about 210 lbs. My current goal is get back to 190 where I was just few years ago.. I've been out on the water just few times and I'm comfortable to cover about 2 miles in 30-35 min if it's not windy. So far I cannot tell what would be better to increase speed, or try to go distance or just grab a bicycle and ride to work Thanks!

Hi, New to sport but not to ocean. As we all know from our riding days - ATGATT ("All the gear , all the time") I'm gearing up for cruising in Boston Harbor (Broad Sound to be exact), and was wondering if this PFD would work for that purpose. I have in since my sailing days.. I will check expiration date/ replace cartridge if necessary. The question if anyone used it and it's comfortable to wear for paddling... I might buy specific PDF later when I understand what I need, don't want to rush to buy or postpone water time Thanks in advance oA

Hello forum, Just wanted introduce myself briefly and get some help. My name is Kirill, came here with surfing background (not much though, still consider myself a beginner). Ocean enthusiast with passion for all things salt water ( surfing, sailing, fishing, beach walking with dog etc) and responsible relationship with environment. We just moved to Boston's north shore and I'm enjoying being close to Broad Sound (Boston's north shore) but not a luck of waves lol. I'm thinking to add stand up to the list of my activities as the bay is calling. I'm 6 ft around 205 lbs and hope to use paddling as way to drop some weight. I use to live on the lake and had old Mistral windsurfer used as SUP board..While it was OK for paddling on lake, I don't think I would want to go out on that thing in open water. Meanwhile I own 12 footer Munoz ad I know some of you guys started with this board (well, at least it's what I read in one topic originated in 2008 http://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=1186.0 lol. curious if anyone who posted there still around). I know it's not SUP board but I'm not in a position to splurge on SUP right now...but really want to get on the water. I'm entertaining the idea to get the paddle and try Munoz. I'm not interested in surfing waves on SUP but more distance runs along the coast on days when it flat/choppy/basically when there is no surfing lol. and since we are in Boston harbor its pretty much every day haha. so what you guys think?
