Gear Talk / Re: Is it normal for paddle handles to snap off?
« on: August 24, 2020, 04:21:51 PM »
Paddle do break sometimes, but this one has nothing to do with your technique and everything to do with shitty plastic handle. Do yourself a favor and find a nice used paddle from quickblade, kenalu, zre and don't waist your money on inferior stuff.

Bill, gl240 has been picking my interest recently. I went out yesterday with 210 in 11-14 mph winds and 6m swing and the initial lift is less than the old wings but itís so awesome once flying, so efficient and fun. I definitely think of switching/adding gls to mu quiver. The only limiting factor for me yesterday was the old maliko tail, once I hit 17mph that tail becomes like unbalanced tires on the car  ;D. But yeah 210 ruled my world yesterday, but when wind lulled to about 10 that was it - I didnít have enough to get going. So 240 might be the ticket.

Notice that even though he could readily pump up onto the foil with that beeeeg 7m in those really light winds, he couldnít complete any of his transitions on the foil. You know itís not a lack of rider skill in this case. Iíve been out in conditions like that and unless I could time the transition perfectly with a gust AND pump a lot I wouldnít stay up on foil.  This video just convinced my even more that riding my 6m in 10-15 is about as low as Iíd go and still have fun with transitions ON the foil.  If itís on the light side of that 10-15 then itís kitefoil time. No interest in that 7m at all!

100% agree! And also video shows him only one tack - probably his strong side. I have 6m swing and can fly in 8-9 mph with m280 front wing but no luck with transitions. Also pumping on the foil in those light winds with my wrong foot forward seems to be an undertaking.

I think youíre shooting yourself in the foot by using short mast. Longer mast gives you more room for errors and more time to correct. Donít be afraid to breach, part of the learning. My humble opinion  8) Good luck!

@gzasinets - have you been on the 2020 Bullet, or can anyone else compare it to the V2? Of the ones listed so far, any clear favorites for stability in chop / small bump performance?

I havenít been on the 2020 version. But older ones are my favorite dw boards.

I have gofoil 24.5" tuttle mast for sale. It is in good shape - some paint rubs/cracks - see pics. I also have an aluminum plate adapter that can be a part of the sale. Mast takes 1.5 wings versions no problem.
Mast alone -$300 or $350 with the plate (becomes 27"). Items are in Naples FL. PM me or text 239.287.five three 58

I think I saw someone on insta doing exact thing that you ask about but it was hard to come to any conclusion. Based on my experience with foil and sup - not worth the effort.

Pretty cool video. I wonder what's availability date? 2021  ???

Yes. 130 lbs person will learn on 1600-2000 cm/2 foils. Assuming the wind isnít too light. 12-14 knots minimum.
