Travel, Trips, Destinations / Re: The state of SUP surfing?« on: April 03, 2024, 06:21:57 AM »
ive noted that the number of surf suppers i see is stable, where numbers of surfers are continually growing -- lineups tighter and tighter, and sometimes gotta just mix with em bc they are everywhere (at my Brooklyn and RI breaks) -- makes it important to be on one's game -- supper makes an honest mistake, apology wont necessarily suffice
good is that the mass market sup surge seems to have reversed -- so there are fewer beginners on sups in lineups where they shouldnt be there are hordes of beginners on logs, of course........but life's not fair 5

still running my business and trading lots -- still surfing and skiing as much as possible -- so far, no reason to retire, tho i will eventually -- gotta wake up on the other side at some point -- i am 65yo and have not been unemployed since i was in college -- saver, not a spender, ive saved plenty for me and mine
lotta factors, but hate spending savings, and, if i retire, there will be no situation remotely as nice as ive now -- but im not dogmatic -- a partner, who was the last guy id think would be happy retiring, told me he aint looked back -- sadly, tho the guy is a fitness fanatic, he just had a stent dropped and and a carotid cleanout -- yikes 6

love my stryker -- anterior approach
advice: pre-hab--go in for surgery in the best shape possible post-surgical rehab--get a good PT -- watch out for private-equity-bought PT practices -- youre better off at home with minimal equipment, youtubes and insta, than trying to get care in these ruined businesses --- and "hab" is proactive 5% instruction, 95% your exertion ---exert a lot or dont expect optimal result amazing surgery -- i could still surf when i went in but hiking skiing climbing etc were history -- ive got all that back -- tho im an old POS so........ tennis on clay even -- pickle? on hard court? no interest......lol 9

that would be me -- a smaller but excellent session -- prior evening at a nearby point break was higher stakes -- been a good fall/early winter

lost my popup years ago -- sup also a blessing -- hip replaced two years ago -- aok result -- can still do a stumble up on an LB -- now effing around a bit with foil and efoil -- same issue -- seems i need a quick solid popup, where a stumble up wont work -- too acute
the few times ive gotten to my feet on efoil, ive easily gotten up on foil and set back down ok -- but the effing popup with my dumb left hip (im reg footed, so it gotzta go forward) doesnt work -- the foot drags -- with WS watrstarts i flailed and then figured out a hip work around -- still flailing on my efoil how do you pop up on foil? with a wing the stumble may work, but on efoil or prone nah 12

General Discussion / Re: Sinus Infection« on: December 28, 2022, 07:52:22 AM »
use the saline rinse that comes in pressurized cans -- pressure insures contents remain sterile -- the squeeze bottles risk pulling back the stuff youre rinsing out of your nose, or other crap, and then providing germ growth medium til the next time you use
i dont get infections, but have bad allergies -- when im affected, i rinse a couple of times a day and provides comfort if nothing real 15
