So you think it would be bad to super glue clothy (sorry for made up word) rope around where you grip on shaft, remove rope after it dries, leaving a rope material residue? Just a thought.

Hi Zoners,

I live and deal with hot weather all the time, >100 degrees (Austin, TX) Curious to how you deal with keeping your sweaty hands/palms from slipping off the paddle? Dorky to have paddle grip? I was thinking about sanding a rough patch into paddle to deal with the issue.

Charlie Young Beach in Kihei had a ton of locals SUSing. In addition, also had a pretty good family friendly vibe to it too.

Didn't want to start a new thread. Obviously it's 2015 and the last post on this topic was early 2013...

Since everyone's in different parts of the US and abroad, just wanted to get a feel if your area you seen any noticeable upward trends regarding people using choke method in races these last two years?

I honestly don't know how many years people have been using the choke grip on SUP paddles, so I maybe way behind the trend. I just seen videos with people using choke grip and I haven't seen anyone in person in Austin, TX use it yet.

The first and main thing that got me in Maui are the really slow drivers and crazy low speed limits. Easy to get over it quickly though!

Good range of ideas..I'm leaning towards do nothing and thinking what JayInSoCal said "I doubt you would get enough drag from empty fin boxes to notice a difference if they were filled." The board is really meant for cruising.
