I almost never fall forward.... And boom.
Does anyone else experience that?
Zoo! Me too, but only out on the water, so far. Who has that tag here on the Zone "paddle till ya can't"....

Great shots... chill Santa Cruz groove.
See you on the water... but not this Sunday! 6 meters too rich for me...

Some folks got more stoke than sense. I got in and out alive, and caught a couple of exhilarating waves. Tough work getting back out.
My son had a blast, wave after wave, he lasted about 1.5 hours before he said 'enuff'... very hard on the inside.
Not venturing in today/tomorrow though. Swell is HUGE but messy.

Good work, whoever you are!
(from the Santa Cruz Sentinel)
CAPITOLA >> A 7-year-old boy was saved by the efforts of a good Samaritan on a paddle board, a Central Fire rescue swimmer and a State Parks rescue watercraft after being swept into the ocean at Pleasure Point Sunday afternoon.
According to Central Fire Battalion Chief John Walbridge, the boy was on the beach at the base of the 36th Avenue stairs with his mother when he was washed into the ocean just before 1 p.m.
His mother leapt into the water in an effort to rescue her son, but the strong current dragged the boy out to sea rapidly, Walbridge said. When a paddle boarder spotted the boy struggling in the water, he paddled to the boy’s location and helped him on to his board. The mother was able to safely return to shore.
A Central Fire rescue swimmer entered the water at 36th Avenue and swam out to the 7-year-old victim and the paddle boarder.
“There were storm conditions out there; a lot of cross swell and unpredictable peaks and dips,” Walbridge said. “It was very disorganized and challenging.”
A State Parks rescue watercraft picked up the victim and the rescue swimmer and transported them back to the Santa Cruz Harbor where the uninjured boy was reunited with his mother.

I think I prefer warmer waters, but this is an interesting video from an interesting place. These guys maintain their stoke in the face of extreme conditions.

cheat--you date yourself--it's all harnesses and restraints these days---bring your tie-downs! or creek's rope setup!
You ain't seen Cheat - he ain't gotta DATE hisself.... he is DATED already.... all the way back to the last millenium! (As to his tastes in harnesses and restraints: 1) never seen him without a leash; 2) mostly wears a helmet, when it hasn't been pinched. 3) +1 on #2 mostly wears a vest, especially when it ain't been pinched; 4) ALWAYS wears zinc based sunscreen, or Mama would spank him (ok, he ain't alone there); and 5) he graduated from his big red inflatable to a potato chip that bucked me off till I decided to give up, iow: major cojones in this geezer. Respect, Carl! Rock on Carl
