My Garmin 305 Foreunner finally bit the dust after four years of dependable use. Only complaint was the heart rate monitor.
Replaced it with a Suunto Ambit this fall and couldnt be happier. Much more accurate and customizable to the hilt. Very intuitive and easy to use. Love the Movescount site as well.

We scored one breif but really good session from Nadine early on, back on the 14th of this month. Then it threatened to give us another swell early this week but there just wasnt enough push. That storm has been around a long time for sure.
I sail through the Azores fairly regularly as it is a stop on the "milk run" for yachts voyaging from the West Indies to Europe. Only spent time in Horta on Faial. It is certainly a beautiful place.

Well, we got ours although it was short lived. Katia never developed as it was forecast to, downgrading and hovering just below hurricane status, Perfect sunny skies with double to triple overhead glass perfection on the out island reefs is what we got for about 36 hours. Not complaining I hope everyone to our west and north get theirs!

Very similar conditions here in ANTIGUA.
I couldnt even make it on day 6 (who ever heard of an epic swell lasting 6 days). I had no gas left in the tank!
IGOR broke the record books as far as local surfing goes.
Some footage of the big stuff::

The swell maxed out our big wave spots today. Closing out entire bays....but still glassy! Had to ride spots where the swell wrapped to tame it down. Even those sports were going off! IGOR is going down in the history books for us.

GET READY...ya'll! We had the best swell on record yesterday...and its continuing today. Slow moving and powerful IGOR is just churning out the swell. Beautiful long period "meat" coming your way

Welcome to the cult......my brother. Distance paddling has truly taken a 50% share of my SUP desires and ambitions. Its all about being able to GLIDE wether theres waves, wind or nothing at all. Whats so cool is that its not just an "alternative" its a whole other aspect that you really get into. You dont get skunked with SUP.

Seeing the first lines from IGOR already. He is a wave making machine at Cat 4 right now! IGOR is taking a similar track to DANIELLE which brought us perfect conditions with clear skies and ligh offshore winds. This time the swell will be twice the size and is slated to last for four days!......."please leave a message after the tone.."

Aright....finally back on line.
My palm tree out front went down hard and took out my phone lines and power line.
We got lucky, Earl was only a TS strengthening to a hurricane as it passed just north of us. We saw 60 knots regardless. Didnt get good conditions at all as the wind and swell came together.
Got some really nice shoulder high glass from TS Fiona yesterday. So two out of three (Danielle was epic) aint bad.
Gaston on the way......here we go again!

Looks like Earl is gonna be TOO CLOSE. A lot of work to do...bummer.

That swell was a trip. Came in much bigger than forecast (which is a rarity) and lasted only about 12hours. Dead flat this morning.
It is definitely getting hectic. Here comes Earl...and Fiona is on the way too.
