SUP General / Oceanside, CA

I will be in Oceanside staying at a hotel in Carlsbad for a soccer tournament. Don't know where to surf on Saturday, the 16th of this month or possibly Sunday.

Normally surf in the 805, county line to northern Ventura. Looking for guidance on where to surf. Any help would be fabulous. Have a 7'8" SUP from Dwight of supSURFmachines in Florida.

0800 game on Saturday and 1400 on Sunday. Looking forward to surfing something new.

SUP General / I supped on a longboard.

I can't believe I did it.  Donald Takayama 10' 2" Surftech epoxy.  23 1/4" wide, 3 1/8" thick and 84 liters of volume.

Me. 5'10", 170 lbs in a 3/2 wetsuit(mistake, got really warm)51 years old.  Really glassy today and small.  Not sure I can do this with any wind but what a workout.

What are the haters gonna say?  I'm on a longboard.

Life long Kings fan.   Yes, before the Great One arrived.  An unreal march so far in the playoffs and hope it continues with skating with the cup.

SUP General / Big Island..Kona area

Arriving this Monday for 12 days on the Big Island.  Looking for a zoner to tell me where to surf and where to not surf.  It would be cool to get together with a local zoner.  Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Travel, Trips, Destinations / Looking to buy new SUP on the Big Island

I will be in the Kailua-Kona area in July and I'm looking to buy a new SUP instead of renting.  Can anyone recommend a local surf shop/shaper.  I currently ride a Coreban 9'6" Performer and would hopefully find something close to that.  Thank-you in advance for any help.

Travel, Trips, Destinations / Newbie questions about traveling with SUP

Long time reader with very few posts.  I am flying to the Big Island in July.  LAX to KOA, and I have a few questions.
1. I think it will cost me 100 dollars each way for my board on United, it's a 9'6" SUP, does this sound correct?
2.  What do I do with my paddle?  Pack it in my board bag?
3.  I don't think my rental van has surf racks as an option, how do I get it to my destination?  Wive and kids will be in the van also.  Bring my own tie down?
4.  I have read numerous tips on how to pack the board for travel and I thank all for that.
5.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Please be easy on me with some of the questions.

SUP General / New guy saying hi

I'm brand new to this post and I thought I would say hi.  I guess I'll introduce myself.  Started sup'n 5 months ago to cross train for marathons..introduced to this sport from a Silver Strand local..got my friend to try it..learned at a beginner beach away from the lineup..started to catch waves after awhile..started with a Hobie 11'2"..currently on a Coreban 9'6"..I love this sport..marathon training has taken a back seat..I have learned a lot from reading all the posts..it's like a classroom..just can't find a peak here in Ventura County that isn't crowded or unridden..
