Fish Tales, Stand Up style / Fishing from the board in Florida = redfish.

Took my inflatable to Florida last week for some cruising and fishing. I was able to get up really close to the mangroves in shallow water where it would be tough to get a motorized boat and catch a few good size redfish. Great way to travel with a board and fish spots without a guide or renting a boat. Hooked a couple that literally towed me around for a few minutes. Sorry for the wierd photo, only had my GOPro with me for a quick fish/self portrait. Highly recommend taking one of these boards along for a trip like this. I think they kind of suck for surfing but for getting around on the water in general, it worked perfectly.

SUP for river fishing will take off in the coming years. We managed to get them upstream to fish a spot thats nearly impossible to hike to. Fishermen have already been asking me how they can pull this off too. Easy, get a sup!

Whitewater and River SUP / Spring is here. Local rivers are rising.

Colorado is starting to loosen up and thaw out a bit. Been paddling a good deal already. Mark you calanders for some really good stand up events.

As river levels have dropped over the last few months and the water has cleared up, I have been taking my fishing pole along on most of my river trips. Its an awesome way to get out and get some exersize and to hook some fish. The current pushing you, wind, handling the pole and paddle and getting the line in just the right spot makes for a fun challenge. Hooking fish from the board while floating downstream is a pretty unique feeling. Here are a couple of images from this week on the Colorado river. The weather has been beautiful here in Colorado and has given us a chance at some SUP fishing time before the ski season kicks in.

This past weekend was the class V Gore Canyon race on the Colorado river. After the race and before the awards ceremony we did a three mile fun run on some very mild class II on the Colorado river. I took along my GoPro and believe this quick clip shows why river stand up is so much fun. No music or fancy edits. Just a basic look at why this is taking off in the mountains.
