Foil SUP / 2021 Fanatic Sky Sup vs JL Flying V

Need some help. I’m down sizing from a 7’3 JL hover board, and having a hard time deciding what to go with. I’ve narrowed my options to a JL 6’5 Flying V @ 115l and the current 6’7 Fanatic Sky SUP 125l I’m 185lbs/83kg

From what I gather the Fanatic is 3lbs heavier. Looking to use this board as a stepping stone into wing foiling too. Looking for some opinions on both

A long time coming...


I"ve seen several versions of a  hybrid 17' and then in 2014 I noticed this sitting under the trees @ Kanaha during the 2014 Olukai.  These are early pics of a protype 17' V3. Team rider Scott Trudon used this board during the event and since 5/14 there have been several versions built and tested. I know there are some paddlers already riding custom EPS hand shaped (narrow v2) boards.  But from what I'm told, the prototyping is almost completed.

This is the Big Island's best paddle event, and in an effort to gain some steam and attract off island competition...

Some sneak peaks of SIC's newest creation in the flatwater "X" series line up.  This particular board belongs to GC and has much more sunken deck. Sorry, no specs. I was told this will possibly be a late 2014 or 2015 model.

anyone familiar with MHL boards?

hard to find any type of info on these guys, but have heard great things here and there.  From 12'6 to custom unlimited sizes.  Seems as if all their boards are custom made. so probably hard to take in reviews if everyboard is different.

just curious if anyone has tried these boards.

Downwind and Racing / 17' V1 vs V2 smaller days.

It seems the V2 is quite the performer in open ocean swells.  I love my V1 and have no issues with it other then I'm on the heavier production model.

I'm wondering how does the V2 compare to the V1 on smaller downwind conditions, or even in near flatwater days.  Does the increase in width slow down the V2 in flatter conditions?
