Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it. Was a really great day and with the paddlers and their families and supporters probably had over 200 people hanging around having a great time. Had to have some classic aussie music for a classic aussie event surf4food !!

Downwind and Racing / 12 Towers Race 2016
« on: February 28, 2016, 02:29:44 PM »
Hi all, the 12 Towers race was held this weekend in windy Moreton Bay, Brisbane,  due to the beaches being closed for the 2nd year running on the Gold Coast. Had 120 competitors, and an awesome downwind run form Cleveland to Wynnum. Great event, and a great feel on the day. thanks to all the sponsors, and those that competed.
Here is a little video I threw together.

Guys, I have been on a short run on the 17'10 x 24 myself in pretty messy conditions (side chop etc) and found it pretty stable. I reckon the 26 would be ample for most people. (if I ever got one it would be the 26)

There is also a longer run from Cleveland to Scarborough that we do, however wind angle must be just right. 37 to 40km run, and he runners at this angle go forever. I will attach the pics and link for that video. (I know its pretty long...but 4.5 hours into 3 mins almost impossible hahah)

Hi all, as most have you have been following the recent downwind action in brisvegas,  we had 40 paddlers  go out last Saturday. great conditions, and a great group of guys and girls. If you are wondering what Brisbane offers in the bay...check this out.  (I stole my wifes 14x27 Ace for this run) Had some quality paddlers along too, Karla Gilbert, Paul Jackson, Steve Walker, Matt Nottage,.....just to name a few....

Thanks for sharing off-shore. Hong Kong looks like a very cool downwind destination. Do monsoons produce a lot of wind for runs? or is it too confused?
