Hey, thanks for all of the input. I spent the last two days dog proofing my yard and forgot to look at this. I think I'll be fine with the 3/2 but I'm throwing the 4/3 in the truck just in case. MdSurf, thanks for the invite. I'll be in touch for sure. Google says Jacksonville is only an hour and a half away. That's not bad at all.

Thanks Dwight and Creek, I'll probably buy the pass since it looks like I'll be back again in March. I stopped by Mad Dog when I was down there in October but I think they were out surfing. Heard they're a good shop and nice people. I'm doing pretty well Creek. Retired in July so now it's time to play. I will try and stop in Jacksonville on my way down. Looks like a cool shop. Really can't wait to get down there. I've had it with these New York winters.

I'll be driving down to Port Orange Florida from New York next week and was wondering about wetsuit recommendations for the month of January. I've been checking out the cams for Sunglow Pier in Daytona and also New Smyrna beach. Both look like they have plenty uncrowded beach breaks so it should be a fun month. If there are any spots to avoid on a SUP it would be great to know in advance. Just looking to get in some small fun waves.
Thanks
Paul

Looks like he had some really fun rides there. I thought every break in California was crowded? Love my Sunova Speeed too!

Nice Boards, are they made on Long Island?

Creek! Life is pretty good right now but I can't seem to get the ocean to schedule any waves for the weekends. Just getting out on the bay lately. Hope to meet up with you and that van full of boards someday!

Hey TPF, if you have the opportunity to try the Speeed definitely do so. I'm 58 and 205 lb and have the 9'5" Speed. It's my all around favorite board right now. Although it did take me some time to get used to the Thruster set up. You are limited to the smaller two tab FCS center fins. Being used to a larger center fin I felt a little unstable on the board at first. However after I got used to it I found it is stable, easy to to turn around and catch waves with, very fun and very fast. I highly recommend you try one. I also have a 10'6" Style XL which is the most stable 160 liter board I have ever been on.

I think you'll have a lot of fun with that board. What an awesome deal! The 10'5" Widepoint was the first board we owned. I actually had to buy a larger board with more flotation to get down the basics of paddle surfing (11'6" Robert August) since I had trouble staying up on the Wide Point when it got choppy. Which seemed to be everyday. Anyway once I was able to move back down to the Wide Point I had a blast on that board. I've since moved down to smaller boards but the wide point still gets a lot of use and abuse when we have a friend that wants to give it a try. Enjoy your purchase!

I would pay the price to be able to surf a half dozen of those waves. I don't think that's too much compared to what some people pay for vacations.
There are a lot of people here on Long Island waiting to see what's up with that surf park. Considering how crowded the surf breaks get I think they would do okay wit patrons. I think Jim's right though, they may not have the right people to get it going. They've been advertising for memberships for a while now but no word of any definite plans.

I wonder how many of those Primo "Reef Waves" you can get in your hour?

That board just flows so nicely through the water.

Interesting changes to the 8'6" Hypernut. They reduced the volume from 140 L to 132 L and added a 9' version with a volume of 145 L.
