I am 150lbs and a solid intermediate surfer. Any idea what the learning curve would be for me on this board?
Currently on a 10 foot starboard which is way too big. I wouldnt mind a bit of struggle but would hate to be unable to ride at all

I'm 145 lbs and a low intermediate (emphasis on "low").  I'm on a 7'6 x 28, 95 L Infinity RNB right now and love it.  It will feel like a different sport than riding a 10-footer (in a good way).  My SIMS was a great first step at trying smaller (I still love riding that board).

I'm keen to try a more performance-oriented shape like the one adamrod has reviewed here. My gut is the RNB shape is a great compromise on shape/performance for me with where I'm at, but I'd love to try something like the 7'7 Pro (or an Infinty Blurr or a Rawson Raw-1 or an L41 Bruce Wayne).

also! I installed the FCS Dimple pad. Pretty awesome. Really thin so the board still feels responsive, and tons of traction. Doesn't soak up water so the board is really light still. You can buy it by the roll which is good, I've got enough for like, 3 boards.

I love FCS dimple pad for all the same reasons.  I too went with a roll and have enough for another couple of boards when the time comes!

thanks all.
I dont intend to sell the larger board. seems best for smal days and learners , downwind runs etc.
I just dont want to step onto that 7 7 and think: what in the world was I thinking...no demos to try even here in Hawaii

If you are in Hawaii, one good option would be to contact Pat Rawson.  He'd take your size, skill, history, home break, riding style and goals into consideration and could shape you something that fits (in the 7-foot or low 8-foot range).  The guy is a master shaper.
