Hi everybody,

in case you didn't know, if you have a mast track on your SUP board you can do wave sailing (or just flast water sailing) in light wind.
I've been doing that for almost 4 years now (mine was probably SUP board #5 in Maui...) and the amount of fun I had is not measurable.

Here's a couple of photos that will speak more than words.
This first one was published by Windsurfing on double page:

Great shot, great perspective.  I think there may be 6 inches of rail that you aren't using.  who needs a fin anyways?  ;D  Could you feel the blade wash from the copter?

I can't wait to see some waves like the ones in your pictures soon.  Not much size today, knee to waist high, but still a good time.  I am still amazed at how much fun can be had on these boards in small waves.

Nope, thank god no blade wash... it was difficult enough without it...

Hey, maybe not so good for SUP, but head high windswell at Hoo... getting bigger... late July... I'm stoked!

Anyway, sailing at Hookipa for 3.5 hours I counted at least 20 SUPers doing the Maliko downwinder, getting ready for Sunday's race...

Cammar,
We saw you linking a deep bottom turn and coming hard off the top as we were rounding the bend by Ho'okipa (ever wonder why there are so many accidents right there?).  We cheered for you, but if you didn't hear, it was because the windows were up.  That swell looked like it may have been more than just wind (pretty organized).  It actually looked really nice.

For those who aren't familiar, Cammar runs a great Maui blog http://mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/ and now discusses it on his own forum category here: http://www.hotsailsmaui.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=5.

Hi G,

Are you doing the downwinder on Sunday?

"Cammar,

... you sure it was me??? :-)

It is a windswell (7 seconds period, just check how close the waves are to each other), but for sure it's the cleanest windswell I've ever seen... why is that? No idea.

Chan, nope. I'm not going waste a wavesailing day at Hoo and pay $95 to do something that i can do fo free any time I want (i.e. when it's flat).

How's the south shore these days? This coming week is going to be small, but I'm seeing some decent storms down there that will give us a good next week. You guys still here?
