Pumping up a 2014 Red Paddle 12'6" Race
« on: March 15, 2014, 11:12:21 AM »
I'm writing a review of the 2014 Red Paddle Co 12'6" Race inflatable SUP and after my two other reviews of Red Paddle Co boards (10' Surfer and 10'6" Ride) I had some feed back regarding the process and time it takes to inflate and prepare the board for a session. So, I've made this little video for the 2014 12'6" Race showing me pump up the board, install the RSS battens, install the fin, in one take albeit at 8x normal speed.

Full article and process explained here: http://greenwatersports.com/2789/pumping-up-an-inflatable-sup-by-red-paddle-co
Full review of the 2014 12'6" Race, including detailed photos and walk around video, coming next week.

Looks like a lot of work pumping them up , do they make a electric air inflator for us lazy folks?

Hi NoFoSUPer, they do have electric inflators. Think tyre pumps for cars. We got one, tried it and took even longer. So long we stopped and pumped it ourselves. You could use a combo, but I like it as a warm up for my session.

Takes about 5 minutes.  I use it back to back to inflate two 12'6" inflatables.  Make sure you get the correct valve adapter for your board.

That pump will work, but it'll only get you to 15psi. Depending on your board, it might be enough. Reds though, they'll pump to 20-25psi.

It works great for both my Isle and Solstice 12'6 which are damn near the same board other than a few minor details.  I've noticed that most inflatables seem to come from the same factory with different color schemes, brand names, and prices.....but they all seem to be the same board.

I use the electric pump and if I want a few more lbs. of pressure I use the slender high pressure hand pump to top off.
