Here is a link to my refurb. Gast pump.  Unfortunately, if you click on it it will likely redirect you to an Amazon site.  So, you will need to cut and paste the link into your browser.

So will this one do the job?

And I am not sure I understand this (below).  How do you put the emitter "Inside the Compartment?"  Do you place the emitter on the surfboard then pressurize the board and wand over the board until you hear the Offensive leak?

Clear as mud for surfboard leak repair.

-------------------------------------
Non-pressurized vessels or containers cannot generate ultrasonic sounds.
Tightness check for them (also cars, ships, etc) can be performed by using EM282-R and EM282-T together.
To do it, turn on EM282-T and place it inside the compartment to be checked.
The ultrasonic sound emitted by EM282-T will pass through orifice or faulty seal and will be quickly located by Em282-R.

Doesn't sound like it would work for surfboard leaks.

Description:
This Ultrasonic Leak detector is design to locate leaks in pressure and vaccum systems. It can be used to detect and locate the source of ultrasonic emission generated by gas or liquid flowing through a small restrictive opening. It uses the advanced ultrasonic sensing technique and features small size, light weight, reliable detection, easy use and utility.
In conjuction with Ultrasonic Transmitter, can also be used for tightness check in sealed compartments such as container, tank, car, etc.

Features:
Design to locate leaks in pressure and vaccum systems
Locate leaks pressure and vaccum systems
Quick location of air, water, dust leaks
Place the transmitter in the vehicle and close the doors and windows
Trace the detector around outside of the screen, windows and door seals to locate the leak
    2 LED lights
        Red - Leak
        Green - Power

It might work. You don't need the emitter. For surfboards, you're listening for a whistle of air entering or leaving a hole. All you need is frequency conversion. As you can tell by whistling, the frequency of air moving through a hole gets higher as the hole gets smaller. The tiny holes we are trying to find emit sound above human hearing range.

It's best to have a detector with headphones.

I'm just throwing this out there, but what about the good old low tech approach. Spray this stuff on the board, and put it in the sun. Sometimes there isn't water bubbling out, it's just going to off-gas. https://www.amazon.com/Nu-Calgon-4182-24-Detector-Bottle-1-Quart/dp/B000R7Z6L4/ref=pd_sim_469_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000R7Z6L4&pd_rd_r=R649B2BEPCS5JPGXXD02&pd_rd_w=RQrfs&pd_rd_wg=Tj5ls&psc=1&refRID=R649B2BEPCS5JPGXXD02
For gas and air leaks I've used soapy water for years. This stuff bubbles under super low pressure.

It's not overhead to me!

Fine for some applications. but if you're trying to find a leak in a vacuum bag it's just going to make a mess. And ultrasonic detectors will find pinhole leaks that your hotcoat left. Might get one bubble per hour, but over a few weeks with temp changes and time in the water equals wet EPS or a delam. Put a half pound of pressure in the board and your ultrasonic will find it in minutes. One of those tools you never knew you needed until you got one, and then it's in your hand four times a week.

What if you spray the board, then apply pressure?

About to pull the trigger on this model.

I realize it is pretty pricey BUT, BUT if this thing prevents leaks then it will massively extend the life and enjoyment of our boards.

Is this the model to get (Pono I think I saw this in the background of your shop photo)?

What if you spray the board, then apply pressure?

As I found out the hard way, even low PSI has the potential of delaminating a board.
But, bringing the board out from a cool space (or hosing it down with cold water) then sitting it out in the heat for a little while might generate all the internal pressure you need.

Beasho, that looks like a pretty good deal for less than a couple hundred bucks.

OK, So I ordered it.  It arrived.

There is a small laser light that allows you to clearly identify where you are pointing.

With that said I now need some ideas on adding pressure to my board.  Most of my boards have a vent plug.  So I am thinking some surgical aquarium tubing with mouth pressure only.

Any ideas on the best way to adapt fish tubing to the Vent connector?

a simple it of tube and blue tack will be enough to make a seal on a tube you really don't need much pressure at all. I personally tend to do it with a simple temperature change, that way I can ether create a tiny positive or negative pressure inside the board just by going from hot to cold or cold to hot. You only need 2-3deg c temp change to get the pressure change which is why it is so key to have a stable temp when glassing boards.
