Danny Ching will be in a 14 and Travis Grant will be on a 17. Both match up well in distance races. Anabel Anderson may use a board very similar to an Ace 14. One of many things that make this race so interesting.

I overheard a conversation yesterday, Kai had just come in from a Maliko on his foil board. The snippet I heard was something like 'well, it's called the UNLIMITED division, right? Hahahaha' So, it's hearsay and you can make what you will of it.

I also saw Kai the day before near the harbor mouth at the finish of a Maliko on what looked like a normal unlimited and he was just killing it. I was in an OC1 and I couldn't catch him on a standup. The guy is so fit all the time anyway but he's looking to be in really good form right now. It's going to be interesting what he shows up with and how he does no matter what.

Some just amazing top level competition in the sport right now, Travis, Conner, the Aussies, and many more, fun to watch! As for the forecast, here is National Weather Service forecast for the Kaiwe:

Sunday ENE wind around 14 kt. Scattered showers. S swell 1 ft. Waves around 6 ft

That is actually a pretty good forecast for the race, should be quite a battle

Should be interesting. The typical SIC style unlimited really sucks in light wind/no bumps. I'd rather be on almost anything else when it's light, they're so draggy. 14 race board vs unlimited DW board, I'd say the 14 has a real chance. Pump up the wind and swell a bit and it's a different story.

Wouldn't be too surprising to see Travis Baptiste do really well. I notice that Devin isn't doing it. Too bad. She's getting SO fast, but she loves da bumps, and this might not be bumpy.

And Kai's time!! unbelievable. All the unlimited men's finishers--first five under 4:20. Sheesh. 32 miles and 4:07 -- that's an 8MPH average. Crazy.

My friend Victoria Burgess trained so hard for this race and it paid off. Training here in South Florida while holding a fulltime job. She did it on a barrowed 14 Bullet V1 that she only had a few days to figure out. Really happy for her.
