Here's a link to SIC's 2016 catalog (link came in an advertising email from SIC on July 30).

All sorts of interesting things in there:  new boards, new sizes, new components.

I have no idea on availability.

Awesome!!  This board looks great!!  Volume is much more than expected at 290!!  Good news for me at 200lbs!!  Can't wait to hear the reviews.  Wonder when they will be available to dealers?  Thanks!!

That's the lineup for 2016 so availability is next spring.
If you go with custom made, you can get one in the next 2-3 months according to people who did.
in progress...

Where is this video? Googling FX14 came up with nothing. Thanks.

No sunken deck will add a lot of liters

Still sounds really high for a 25" wide board unless it has a high volume-boof nose. The X-14 x 28 is listed as having 296 litres with a cut out deck, and some dealers have it listed at 280 litres. I think that board would be closer to 280 litres than 296, and others on here commented that 296 seems quite high for the X-14 x 28.

Flow Sports, who will have produced the SIC Catalogue, have an abysmal record as far as typos and inaccuracies go. The previous two years have seen a host of howlers in their advertising material. So I wouldn't worry too much about this. It is probably wrong. The SIC advertised volumes are probably just as accurate as the widths that Starboard quote... Pick a number, divide by the date, subtract the age of your mother and multiply by the number of boards you have. That'll probably be as accurate.

The only things I trust are the widths that Mark says in the video. If Mark hasn't said it, it has to be considered inaccurate until proven otherwise IMO.

It's a shame that we can't see the nose in profile in the video of Mark talking. Obviously, that (and the rocker line) is the big question with a multi-purpose board like this.

And the question of how stable it is - 25" is pretty narrow for most non-elites downwind and in chop, especially if the deck isn't sunken.

The Fanatic Flatwater 14'x24" is 280 liters and very stable, actually too much board for flat water, but comes alive in wind and summer crowd boat wakes (won't say waves since I'm inland)

"Flatwater" means very different things to inland vs. ocean paddlers. I remember a race near me held in the sea on just about the flattest day of the year. A load of inland paddlers turned up and were falling all over the place and complaining that the conditions were really choppy. Certainly, there are quite a few lighter and/or highly skilled people who can ocean downwind in knee-high+ bumps on 24" wide board. But this will be a vanishingly small demographic in terms of worldwide sales, and most of the people who could do this will not be paying full price for their boards. I would have thought that a 27-28" wide version of SICs new 14 board would have been exactly what many people would want. But clearly I don't know the market very well. I guess that these days most casual paddlers are buying inflatables, so hard boards will become more polarised into wider touring boards with deck attachments etc on one hand, and tippy race ones on the other, with the death of the 27-28" wide race board.
