I smell a money-making opportunity:

"FOR SALE - TWO CUSTOM 8' SUPS:  Each one-of-a-kind.  Piercing nose "finless" 8', also have snub-nose surf-style 8' available.  Would like to sell as a pair.  Never dropped, no water in either board.  Perfect for someone w/ glassing skills."

I would NEVER let Jimmy Lewis transport my board. You guys razz me, but Jimmy is whacked. He ties boards down with string, lets them wobble all over the place, no rack, no pad. And then he looks everywhere but the road.

Back to the mourning. I do think you can make the board usable again. I've seen much worse, I've repaired much worse. It will be a little heavier, but not bad. Get the idiot to pay, then fix it, then get something shiny with that new board smell. You guys should get one of your dealers to handle SIC. It would probably solve some issues for you. They can mix containers at Cobra. .

Repairable--totally, ever the same? No.

Bullet 17 V1. I just ordered a molded hollow one here on Maui and I have a production version in Hood River. Awesome board, and it will change the way you think about downwinding.

I have got my eye on the Bullet 17'4 v2 Hollow.. Do you think it will be good for expedition type paddling with gear loaded on board and paddling in a variety of different sea states? I suspect it will and can be adapted to suit my needs a bit more.. Added handles and tie downs etc.

I have a V2 hollow here in Maui. Great board. Mine's a little heavy because the guys at SIC don't trust me with a lightweight construction. I've been downwinding it for three years now, and it's what I'd choose to do what you're talking about. V1s are faster, V2 is more user friendly and with the greater nose volume will carry a load. Too bad you're not here on Maui, I'm going to sell it as soon as I get my V1 (in a week).

Shipping and import duty would probably double the asking price..

Did you get the heavy duty construction?

Yes. It would probably be idea for what you plan to do. I specified both handle plugs and tiedown grid, but Mark spaced on it, so I used glue-on tie points for both. Double leash plugs and an extra layer of carbon on the deck. I doubt it's practical to ship it, but then again, any hollow SIC board would necessarily be shipped. Is there some kind of duty break for used gear?
