My first DWer on my new 14' 2015 GX Jav.
« on: September 01, 2014, 12:50:15 AM »
Yesterday was the last day of Winter here in Oz.. and it was my first downwinder on my new 2015 14' GX Javelin.

It was a beautiful day.. warm and sunny.. and just enough wind for a downwinder.. Only about 15 knots..

My friend Anthony got to use his new 2014 14' GX Glide on his first downwinder..

Runners were hard to find in those light winds.. but they were there to chase down..

The new Jav was awesome in those light conditions..

btw.. Today we got about 20-30 knots.. and ithe new Jav was even better..   :)

great.

So... do you need to move back more/quicker to keep the nose out?

and how is the carve with those nice hard rails?

great.

The nose is quite happy pearcing and the added volume brings it back up without needing to move back.. Because of the nose shape there doesn't seem to be any slowing or pushing of water when it is under.. Moving back does lift the nose to prevent it going under in the first place and I found that I could stay back for longer without it feeling like it was bogging down.. The wider tail and concaves under the middle of the board is very noticeable allowing you to keep paddling and still keep planing even when there is very little slope on the wave.. No problem with the nose catching so far.
