California Forecast: 7X-10X Overhead to 43 ft Jan. 22

I have never seen this before.  

Better plan on wearing double float or watching the action from the beach.

Considering that Mavericks can more than double the Surfline estimates should make the conditions noteworthy.  Competition anyone?

This is forecasted for a Wednesday which is good.  Typically when the ocean gets this large on a weekend people tend to die because they get too close and get swept away.

Looks like mush driven practice time is going to become binoculars from the beach.

I have been happy that Mother Nature has given me several months of benign practice time in Santa Cruz, but looks like the ocean is being returned to the real surfers for a while, should be fun to watch.

Any SUPers plan on going out in this?

Do you guys have any special spots that break at a doable size when the
the ocean delivers in such magnitude?  You know those deep in the bay,
harbors, or other rarely breaking set ups.

you'll be able to surf the skimboard break at Chrissy field with that size 1/2 a mile inside of Ft Point.

I think I'm in that league - 30 to 43 inches or so...  but I'm gettin' out my wave board... gonna take it down to the cliff at Steamer's...  put it on sawhorses and use it as a bench to watch the show.

How accurate are these long-range forecasts? In the UK, anything much over 3-5 days is starting to be almost as much guesswork as hard science.

Time will tell Area 10.  As this  animation shows,  Storms will go purple once before rolling above Hawaii and again before California.  

That's a lot of water on which to build waves.  The UK has less than half that distance between land masses.  More than twice the water means twice the forecast lead?

But yes, two weeks out is a long time and sometimes the waves don't show.  I think this could be a big one in CA.

It's just crazy

They are forecasting 30 feet here in Oxnard. Today we had good overhead surf and all the stars were out filming. Dane Reynolds always parks at the end of my street so today I said did you see the forecast for 30'. He said bring it! That guy is a freak, so fun to watch surf.

So Beasho what's your favorite big wave board and leash your always charging the big stuff?
