Just got done with day 2 on the Dwight 7'8" Dumpster Diver.  I will send Dwight pics so he can post them since I don't know how to post pics.  Quite the learning curve.  My previous board is a 9'6" Coreban Performer.

I get what everyone who likes shorter SUPs is saying about performance.  A lot of fun.  You will all love a smaller board if your willing to put some time in.

I feel like a kook on my new board and I like that.

Hey Mark

Looked at your board on Dwight's blog it looks killer, nice time to get a new board for that last swell.

So did you use a local guy to shape it or CNC machine? I'm on the hunt for a new board.

Thanks Bob

Your sim sup looks awesome dude, so forget a PM and tell us all about it here in a post!  ;D

Here are some questions to get you started...

1) How much do you weigh?
2) Did they tell you how much volume it has?
3) How long have you been sup surfing?
4) Does it have 'S' rails?
5) Was it a custom board or off the shelf?
6) How much did it cost out the door?

Thanks!

@surf monkey

Gave a friend Dwights numbers and he had a CNC do the work.  Any local shaper should be able to work with Dwights numbers.  Back 9 in Camarillo did the glasssing.  PM me for more info if you need too.

I ran into Scott, the owner of Covewater Paddle Surf in Santa Cruz yesterday, and he told me that he's got an L41 SIMSUP 3 available for Demo.  This is a great opportunity to give one of these amazing boards a go.  The last time I was in the shop, he also had 3 flavors of SIMSUP on the rack and ready to go. Great boards, great shop. These are all customs (including the demo board), handmade in Santa Cruz, CA.

I absolutely love this board design. Initially I thought this board would only work on small mushy type waves. To my surprise it absoultely rips in small through large size waves. It bottom turns, hits the lip vertically, cuts back super hard, and I can even hang 5 and 10 on it!

To answere your questions:
1. I'm 5'7" tall and weigh 170 lbs.
2. The volume is 105 liters
3. I have surfed for 55 years, and SUP surfed here in San Diego for 8 years.
4. My board is so thin it doesn't need the "S" rails. However, boards over 4" benifit from the "S" rails. So, any Simmons SUPs over 4" do have "S" rails.
5. This is an "off-the-shelf" stock board. It weighs 8 lbs. and has Kevlar "X" cloth on the bottom.
6. The price for this board is $1,345.00 including the deck pad and quad fins.

Finally, Everyone is lovin this board. I can't wait for more people to try this model. Especially, those who love speed and manuverability. This is the perfect do all board...

Best to all,

Dave

Dave, will you have a demo available anytime soon? You have my board now for repairs, so it would be a good time for me to demo one if available?

Yes, 8 lbs. is super light. 6,6,4oz. glass on deck and 6,4oz. glass with "X" cloth on bottom. We used 1 lb. foam on this one since I'm very gentile on my boards. Generally we use 1.5 lb. foam. We glossed and polished the deck with 400 grit sanded gloss satin bottom. I use the board without a deck pad and use wax.

Hi Dave,

What kind of  bottom contours are you putting on these boards?

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

The bottom has a single concave in the nose which breaks off into two deep vee concaves running through the back. The rails are soft in the mid section and sharp in the tail.

Best,
Dave
