Nice pics Blane!  Its so cool how you need so much speed on that wave.  The videos on that wave really show how fast you really need to go down the line.  Awesome!

That's great advice for fast, down-the-line point surf Blane. Take the high line, get as much speed as you can in order to successfully negotiate the next section or bowl, whether it be pulling in or going around.  Where I surf there are a couple places like Makaha (in principle of course, not that famous and never surfable that big) where your advice is completely applicable and right on the money when the surf is actually big enough to make it to the next bowl. Very cool...

The Ku Ikaika Video is done! Blane's wave is the second one on the video. Watch for Aaron Napoleon's HUGE tube after that. The event was awesome. I have some more footage that I'll see if we can get together.  This one has Aaron, Napoleon, Blane Chambers, Ikaika Kalama, Bonga Perkins, and others...

Here's the youtube link. I let you all know as soon as I have the hi res version posted. Enjoy!
I've watched this thing like a hundred times and I'm still stoked on it. I hope everyone likes it.

Thanks for putting this up and noting the surfers.  I wouldn't have known who they were otherwise.  I'm sure it was great looking at all the footage too.  That was a great day!

Let us know when you have the hi res version up.  It'll be even harder to pretend that I'm working when I view it for the 10th time.

Good grief, that wave STILL gives me a pit in my stomach............just LOOKING at it! Amazing truly amazing!

Hey Blane, you should make posters of that shot so everyone can get a copy of it! I would proudly put that shot up in my house!

Again, thanks for all the kind words everyone...    Nate,  cool video!      I really liked the shots where the guys are just flying down the line...    It really is a no cutback wave on the bigger ones.    Just get on the gas and connect sections!   Too cool Nate!   Thanks!

I thought this is interesting to show.    Here's the beginning part of the wave I got.    See how small it is?

Here it is already growing and its becoming a backdoor thing...

It gets all steep and deep from here....

Then the bowl sucks out...   When it gets bigger and the right swell you can pull into this and can even make it out of some...   Just high speed, big perfect barrels!!

Right bout here I'm getting the full blown rag doll.   Ha ha!!!

Aloha,
Blane

That bowl is just insane and the hold downs are even more insane. As a kid that was a feared bowl and rag doll beatings were the norm on any size wave.  Blaine mad respect you have all your limbs and body parts together...lol

Aloha
