Latest paddle
« on: August 16, 2010, 08:33:10 PM »
Made for my buddy Mike (ECsup)...showed it to him the night before the CCBC so I can post some pics now. Cedar, mahogany, lyptus, and koa...glass stringer but no external glass...meant as a distance training paddle. Nice flex so it will be easy on the shoulders. I'll be interested to see how it performs. 8" wide x 19" blade with a bigger than normal angle and turned down tip. Tip for better catch and bigger angle to allow for longer stroke....experiment so we'll see how it goes. Haven't weighed it yet but it feels pretty good. Slightly heavier than a Malama but done purposefully to give a better workout while training.

Very nice! Great mix of wood. What did you use to seal the wood and provide the glossy sheen?

After it gets wet, please let us know how it performs.
