Home made roof rack
« on: August 31, 2010, 07:59:35 PM »
Hi
Just purchased our own boards after belong to a rental membership all spring & summer. Love the boards but would like some advice on transport. I built my own roof rack out of pool noodles, rubber, and locking straps. It seems pretty secure and has survived a couple of trips keeping the speed under 35.  I would appreciate any suggestions on this. I'd prefer to avoid a hard rack solution.

Thanks - Gareth

Hi Gareth, try adding some extra support between the boards. On the last car we had there was no hard rack i just used straps and rolled up towels or rags...never had a problem on the freeway but my max load was 2 stand up boards, your set up seems a little high and the straps too close to each other but who knows, it might work.
