I was going to buy a little Tiki to get some design ideas but now.... I will probably still buy it.... but I am going to see if I can find some Blame Laird stickers to put over the logo.

Have to admit that starboard did well in Chopu contest in Tahiti.  I am not affiliated with them in any way but doctored pic and all their board seams to work. I have no experience with them but did see the contest video and if I am not mistaken starboard took 1st.

This now confirms the rumor that they are the cheesiest company in the SUP industry.

F.R.

i dont work for starboard (or any SUP company for that matter), but have to say Naish, Starboard & C4 all have equal amounts of cheese. C4 seems to try and cram their logo on a board more than any other maker, taking up every inch or real estate on their boards which is cheesy and tacky, starboard boards are just damn ugly and overpriced (but the wood pocket rocket is kinda nice), and naish boards are also ugly, but out of the three companies Naish are probably the least offensive as far as looks. (although the tribal design on the deck pads is a bit cheesey).

Too many of the production SUP's are just cheesed out with too many dumb graphics and company logos all over the board, and call me shallow, but this was a big reason why i didnt buy a board from either of these manufacturers. I'd rather have a boards performance speak for itself, not it's obnoxious graphics, plus i dont want to be a floating advertisement for a company that i've probably already given way too much money to anyway. i feel that if i am riding a board thats loaded with company logos they should pay the people riding them since its advertising for them. obviously this is jusy my opinion, and not representative of everyone else.

woah, that is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Someone owns the right to those pics, and the riders might be affiliated with a different brand.

Kind of a classic situation huh?.......You go corporate, you get too far from the ocean, you outsource your marketing, and then somebody in some office somewhere starts messing with your mojo.

Too many for the rack

Some under decks
Some have straps

That is a photo of Starboard team rider Boujamaa Guilloul.
They even use it on the team riders page.

hahaha! I was hoping someone would re-shoop that pic- if they can do it, we can do it! (wish I had photoshop)

I'm with ODJ regarding branding. Too much branding looks tacky to me, I try to deface, remove, cover, or pervert the branding on my consumer goods.

i'm happy at least someone agrees with me! obviously to each his own, but it just bothers me when i see a C4 board and its just loaded with C4 logos all over it. i like my David Craig because the graphics are minimal and subtle.

oh, and last time i checked he wasnt photoshopping paddles onto dudes on shortboards in his advertisements. heck, he doesn't even advertise. in fact, he's pretty tough guy to get a hold of and still has plenty of business.
