[Poll] What is your background?

My background is in skiing and snowboarding.  I was suprised how much actually translated to SUP.  Once I learned the timing and positioning involved in catching waves I was able to turn, drop in late, and move around on the board after a few times out.  The feel of turning and dropping in feels similar to snowbarding a half pipe.  I am absolutely addicted to the sport now.

growing up i always wanted to surf, but living in Canada(Southern Ontario-farm country) all my peers played hockey and had snowball fights. I eventually got into whitewater kayaking and snowboarding in the mid-90's. after discoving surfing in the Great Lakes i am now hooked on SUP'ing and excited to teach my 3 little boys when the time is right.

regular surfing, skateboarding mostly bowls and vert, and snowboarding.  never windsurfed never kiteboarding.

skate,surf,moto cross,hangliding,windsurfing,kitesurfing,sup. lived on maui 15 years could do any of these things almost any day of the week!
guess i like to carve,hit the big 50 other day aint slowed down much but don't windsurf any more.

You should try wavesailing your SUP. You won't believe how much fun it is. All you need is a little of your old gear. One sail, like the old days. Those afternoons when Kanaha blows out turn into absolutely silly fun.
